I think theres alot of really neat stuff in the comming version, only bad thing is that im getting a laptop tomorrow and it aint dualcore.

Really looking forward to those Live clips and midi assignment improvemnts.

I'm kinda happy that they don't include the extra instruments in Live. Wouldn't want to pay for something I'd never use anyway. But then again I'm done upgrading all the bloatware I have licences for so I won't be getting Live 6. Though coming to think of it they could include their instruments in the price but make installing them optional. Just as long as they don't charge anymore money that is.

lame about charging for sampler. i dont think i would pay, just use rewire and another sampler i already own. interesting about the movies- that could be pretty rad for playing live (if they made it so you could send the video out over svideo).

why's that? i always thought that waveforms look so much nicer with just the colored band at the top.

i don't get the bitching about the sampler. It loads KONTAKT sample libraries, for crying out loud (among others.)

The reason I don't have a sampler VST right now is that I think that they are all poop. Kontakt on a Mac is a nightmare of CPU spikes and the unsettling knowledge that Joe PC guy gets like 40x the polyphony that you do.

This sampler looks A.) awesome! great featureset makes it sound like a sampler and a high-test synth B.) Well-integrated, lower CPU overhead because it is running right out of Ableton's engine. Also this means everything with be super-sample accurate, all the parameters will be able to be controlled easily and at high resolution and that drawn-on modulation will be silky smooth. Kontakt costs twice as much and is four times the suck, imo.

The new features are all over the place, but the VST rack/composite thing looks fantastic and the wicked multi-detination modulation matrix looks like just what I've needed for a long time. At last I will be able to assign a footswitch to turn off one thing and turn on something else at the same time. Also being able to control a filter resonance and a compressor threshold at the same time will be welcome. I just hope that it is slick to set up.

As for the people that think live is too DAWy -- well, you don't have to use the features, but isn't it nice that they are there? I would at least think that it is notable that the way they implement all this stuff seems much much better than anyone else -- the application is still very connected and integrated.

i totally agree with n9

i've been using live as my main host for... well since v3 :D and now with a sampler i will find less and less reasons to even use 3rd party vst plugs. shove in a breakslicer in 6.5 (or live 7) and i won't even install any vsti.

overall this upgrade is mindblowing to me.

nah it breaks it up visually - makes the whole thing less clear to me. obviously it's not a MAJOR issue...
you need a breakslicer plugin? isn't arrangement view breaksliceriness enough for you?
