It felt like I blinked and another year went by. A ton of stuff has happened though, which has been good...
Scored for a choreographer over the summer who's work just got accepted as part of the Asheville Fringe Fest later this month. Also just finished scoring a short dance film which will be submitted to various film festivals across the globe this year - as well as for grants so we can make more. It was the brainchild of my good friend Stephen Aubuchon. He hired my other friend David Colagiovanni to do the videography. My score came out as modern classical/minimalist in flavor. Was influenced by Arvo Part and so I scored nearly completely on piano - which pushed me beyond my normal comfort level. Was a great experience and I am now working towards a collection of similar pieces. If anyone's interested I'll share the score here - not EM at all though...
I put out a call for people to reinvent some of my previous dance work - which turned out great but at the same time I was struggling with the life of a freelancer - no funds to take the album anywhere
I'm now getting familiar with the 'work' week again, ha ha. Adjusting to the regular hours has been a blessing and a curse so far. I miss certain aspects of freelancing but am very happy to have a set place to 'go' for work so when I come home my studio can remain my creative space - not shared with the constant hustle of finding the next client. So, once my first check comes rolling in, I'll be uploading those remix tracks to JDG for mastering and then we'll take it from there.

I almost forgot that I was also hired by the Nasher Museum of Art, along with two other talented guys, to do some web/video/design work for them in conjunction with an upcoming show on 'El Greco'. Very cool. Looking forward to working with such a fine institution.

Not being one to really like 'resolutions', I'm simply going to say that this year I'd like to travel more (now that I can afford to! yeeeah), I'd like to write more music that centers around my bass/piano/trumpet, I'd like to collaborate more with you fine people (working on another collab right now with tmns as well as Drexonfield), I'd like to play more shows, and I'd like to continue to push myself outside of my creative comfort zones. What about you all?
Anyway, thanks for reading all the way down here if you have
Peace,
Benjamin
