I've spent the last three months with only one leg while I recover from the break Roshi described here:

I wanted to let you all know that I'm through the worst of it and should be walking (with assistance) within the next two or three weeks! This horrible experience is almost behind me! I'm finally putting some weight on the bum leg, and so far it's holding up well. X-rays show some, although not much, growth around the fractures; however nothing encourages healing like use.
I'll be using a crutch or cane for a few months, as it will take as long as another year for it to heal completely. That's cool, I like canes. Maybe I could get one with a skull for a handle.
Anyway, just wanted to share the good news! Thanks everyone for all of your thoughts / jokes / insults etc. during this hellish thing!

how long before you can get back to work and visit the uk again? although, youll have trouble in st albans [if youre back there again] with that massive hill. you could just roll down it, like albans head did [in the legend].

Z - my wife and I were just talking about the big hill; the hotel I usually stay at is near the top, while the office is at the bottom. Maybe a good justification for staying in a better hotel closer to the office! 
Louis Cypher! There was once a locally famous satanist named Rex Church who clearly modeled himself after Deniro, cane and all. I thought of him when I though about a cane.

I broke my ankle falling down the stairs trying to chase away some burglars a couple of weeks ago...
that was a pretty spectacular story for the holidays, thank god the guys didn't get to steal anything

oh man, great / horrible story, but mostly great if only for the image of you in your undies yelling on the street. I imagine fists being waved as well. Next you should tell me it was pouring rain out and a group of old ladies was watching.
But also, man, sorry to hear that. I hope that you recover well. Any idea what sort of recovery you have ahead of you?

I've gotten quite mobile with the crutches, being able to go to work and all, but it's still a PITA to have a bath, or the be able to get to sleep. The cast is so heavy and my poor legs get quite tired easily after a short walk. So the cast is coming of this friday, and after that plenty of visits to the therapist I'm afraid (the physical one I might add).

Glad you're through the worst man! I had some funny experiences when starting to walk again on my bad leg. I was so slow I was maybe doing 10 meters in a minute, however I was all "let's walk again maeng!" so I used to walk everywhere, even if it'd take me hours. So I was walking down to the bakery, and this cop car pulls up at my side, I turn, smile at the cops and continue walking in that insanely slow slightly shakey way. Quickly got pulled over and my bag searched for drugs. Well, that happened to me twice. lolz
