--> Yes! I just got it at the thrift store for one dollar, perfect condition. I never heard any of it before, but I recognized the cover (and the moog) the second I saw it.

I am really enjoying it

i have that! i picked it up last march in Austin (during SXSW) at a goodwill. i had been keeping my eyes out for it forever. that day i found all kinds of good stuff. some chick corea.

oh yeah, same day, same store, picked up Switched on Bacharach which is totally awesomer! its the same idea but with a bunch of Burt Bacharach songs. funny stuff.

hahaha, yeah. Plus I felt an affinity when I found out I share his birthday.
I think The Minotaur is one of the most wicked tracks ever put on tape

wendy carlos also did the "complete brandenburg concertos "(bach), a 2-LP set, which was really good & had a cool cover.
credited as proto-ambient is another work of hers: "sonic seasonings"(2 LPs), which are all her own compositions.
but the classic "switched-on bach" album introduced electronic music to the general public for the first time & was a big hit.

i remember seeing that record in goodwill when i was in junior high and pre-electronic music and staring at it. my mom offered to buy it for me because i was playing piano a lot at the time and i thought "no, i don't think it's really bach, it looks weird" and i put it back :P

Check out this hilarious and insightful interview with Wendy: link
I love how she sticks it to the musical aristocracy. I was supposed to meet her a few years ago because my friend's father attended Columbia with her... but then her father got ill and she had to run up to RI for the week. I was crest-fallen. I have nearly all of her material... but my faves are: Well Tempered Synthesizer, Wendy Carlos' Clockwork Orange (NOT the original soundtrack - amazing!!!), Sonic Seasonings (well before Eno's own ambient-ness), and Beauty in the Beast. Lots of bits of other albums as well... but I think these are golden. I never cared for the Brandenburgs much in any form.

i picked this up for a dollar...funny...bargain if you ask me. wendy (walter?) wendy is the tits

i got a copy of this album as a present from my brother. its currently framed and on my wall. great stuff.
