whilst playing a gig in town last night my friend got felt up.
twice.

i am fucked off. she didn't tell me until we left the venue cos she knew
i would have stamped on his head. she was dancing to my set minding her own business and he felt her up then came back for more.

today i keep getting angry about it.
i have resolved not to play in stupid bars full of stupid people.

i am also backing out of a gig that is sponsered by a rum company that
are twats.
link

i spoke to the promotor and he said they were the best of a bad bunch.
yeah right.

what is it with people?

I'd have wrapped my Nord around his brittle jaw but yeh probably better off that you didn't do anything. Dont let the idiots win
haha. that should sort him theflame ;)
samski, thanks for an inspiring post. I really liked what you said about part of the problem being thinking it's all broken. It's important to look (and post about) the positive things too, rather than just the negative.

I recently got squeezed into helping some local gangster/mafia guy with a shady computer issue, and I felt bad for taking dirty money, so I donated it all to the shelter for homeless kittens.
this whole post reminds me of this:
Video

and thanks for that link to the Idiots Are Winning video. So funny.

ugh... Corey Delaney, all right?!
theflame said: "My missus got felt up twice at one of MY gigs, so I sypathise entirely with both of you.

The guy who did it tried to sell me weed from a GIANT goodie bag (filled with pot, e's, coke, smack, bit of everything) down our local pub one night and thanks to a well placed phone call he got hauled off to the police station with about £5ks worth of drugs in his possession. How I lolled."

Wow, sweet justice.

Whenever I get pissed at people like this, my partner always mentions that being like that is its own punishment.

But then I ask, why do they have to punish us as well?
A stout lesbian with a baseball cap felt up my girlfriend's tummy last night at the bar. It was funny.

If it had been a stout heterosexual with a baseball cap: different story. Why?
Roshi: I agree with your partner, but it's only half the sentence. The remainder of the punishment is my silent glaring and unhappiness. Heh.
the idiots have always been winning, but are they winning more or less than before? :0 ?
jeezuz... what alcohol brands does that company not own?!

good job backing out of that gig, takes guts.
Yes! People are crappy, quip.

But, does your girlfriend really want you to stop playing out? Unfortunately, bars are the main venues for live musicians, and this is always a dilemma for people that don't like drunken assholes.

What does your girlfriend think of your new resolution? If I were her, I might feel bad being a factor involved in the situation which caused you to swear off the majority of venues. (Not saying this is true, but something to consider)

frnortnr is right about the elbows! i've had to throw them before too.. an elbow accompanied by a look like "i'm going to drop you like a zombie" is helpful too.
Ive been felt up a few times by women (im a man) .... but not in the past year or so.

I was walking through town the other day with my g/f and she got wolf whistled at twice in the space of 15 minutes by groups of townie wankers.
I was like "WTF is wrong with people?!?!?" It kinda pissed me off but not because it was MY g/f .... but just because people do that kind of thing and think its totally fine and acceptable. I asked her if that happens a lot and she reluctantly said it does happen all the time but its mostly people in cars that honk their horns at her as they drive past. wankers.
ive been felt up by random women in the past, not for a while though.
sob!
i think the beard and the thousand yard stare sorted that out.

re: blaming society
its mainly the binge drinking culture thats the problem.
i mean, ive been told 30 odd years ago, women wouldn't even set foot in pubs!
so i suppose theres been some progress.

lately as i get older...im 28, im generally more suspicious of random strangers in pubs, clubs etc.
generally though, i think most people are alright. its when you group them together and get them drunk then weird things happen.
oh, i'd just like to add about the whistling thing ...
this was at about 2pm ... not at night or outside a bar or anything and they weren't drunk.
