Well.. It's time to clear out another of my great projects that i don't have time for......Sorry if this isn't the proper use of the blog but the pictures are needed for this.
This is a quite amazing collection of half working synths, controllers, and parts that i was going to turn into some great Circuit-Bent Analog/Digital Modular MONSTER. But one of the promises that i made to keep a few recent things is to clear the projects out...so this goes and makes someone else a beautiful frankenstein.
Let me take you through what is here.
I hope the photos come through alright.
First is the group shot of all the equipment.
The X25 keyboards both work as usb sound cards with both in and out so they are great just that. but one has a broken key and the other powers down when you turn anyone of the continuous knobs. So both of these could probably be integrated well into the setup and they are quite useful for the great quality knobs, and the Thermin-like XYZ controllers that each has. These can send three different midi CC's. A clever bender could use a lot of differnet things from these. Also the knob assembly could be used for repair on the ION synth.
Next we have the ION Synth parts. See the inside view. There is a working screen, half the control knobs, two sets of bend wheels, a working power connection and transformer, and two (!) main sound boards from Two Separate ION Synths w/ full audio and midi connections. Enough for 16 voices instead of 8.
There is an original wood keyboard from an AppleII-based SOUNDCHASER system. This would go a long way toward retro styling and it has ribbon connections ready to go.
If you like i can through in the unit with all the Banana patch points, my ED-LAB 601 electronic trainer kit. This is like those gradeschool Radio Shak 500-in-one kits but On Steroids. Think First Year of Electrical Engineering School instead of gradeschool for this. It does AC housecurrent as well as DC, has a place to put your own Chips (like SSM Filters or 555Timers, has an optical sensor for theremin use, and a built-in OSC as well as speaker, an old computer port, and other things. This ED-LAB works perfectly as far as i can see, so it is more than just good parts, it is something to use now.
What would a Monster system be without Drums and FX?
I have a barely working Synsonics drum pad from the 80's and a weird Panasonic rhythm box. There is a non-functional midiverb4 to scrounge for FX chips or maybe it just needs some simple fix. An Also i am including a SLINKY so you can make your own Spring Reverb to Top the Whole thing off...
This is a great deal for someone who wants to do a serious bend or is looking to have enough parts to make several other projects. i will give preference to benders that have more follow through than me, and local pickup in Rhode Island, USA. But let me know what you think.
