Not really a music blog nor about someone recognising me from some dodgy old photos that are floating about but just had to share because...
Some of you know that Ive been having a bit of a crap time with my job [2nd/3rd line IT support]: the pay was well below my market value, I wasnt happy with some of the team Im a part of and there was some bullying going on that I was trying to raise with my team leader for about 5 months but nothing was done.
It came down to that on Monday, I had to tell all this to a Service Manager [the customer] and that I couldnt work for them any longer because of it. She asked me not to quit and she would get something done.
She sent me emails and text messages over the next couple of days that almost sounded like a GF begging me not to leave [I have one that says: "I dont want to loose you"]
Now its Friday and the result is that everything I asked for/said I didnt like about the job/team has been given to me/changed and Ive been told Ive pretty much got a near £10k pay rise in the bag.
The only demand that they knocked me back on was that I asked for my own gold painted midget to accompany me on every job.
Im so relieved [going to the customer could have badly backfired] and overwhelmed that the level of appreciation that has been shown to me in the last week for what I bring to the job.
At the moment, I have an incredibly smug grin across my face.

Flies, it works like this....
Essentially, I am self employed but I contract to one of the worlds largest IT companies doing 2nd/3rd line support. I work on one of their contracts with one of the largest insurance companies. I was originally brought in as IT had such a bad rep and in 8 months, I have [pretty much single handedly] turned it around for about 550 users.
Ive approached my agency many times to speak to the IT company about increasing my rate considering that they were charging the client about £70 per hour [it worked out to about £135k per year] and I was getting paid under 1/5th of that, and kept getting told that there was no money to increase the rate. [imagine how infuriating this was]
Also, with the bullying issue, I had spoke to my line manager [who works for the IT company] about every 2 weeks about it but was brushed off with shit like, "Come on, you're all adults. Cant you all sort it out amongst yourselves?". It wasn't me getting bullied but this other guy who was doing the lionshare of the bullys work but not getting the credit for it. The bully was also screwing with his head and creating ructions in the team through him.
The bully also talked a lot of shit to this other guy in the team, for instance, last friday, he said that the client was dissatisfied with my performance and was making moves to get rid of me. So on Monday, I told the customer that I had enough and how much notice did they want [I said I didnt care about the IT company as I had no respect for them considering I had bashed my head against the wall for 5 months with them] and the general service manager went into overdrive about keeping me. Ive since found out that they have a list of about 11 technicians across 7 major sites, that they plan to keep when the IT company hands the contract over as they have lost it but it will be about 9 - 12 months away.

Thanks for all the kind words everyone. Im now really exhausted but happy from the relief. Its been a hard couple of months lately but glad that I was proactive instead of doing my usual of walking away from it and having to start over again.

Good suggestion. Considering that she sent me a text wishing me happy birthday over new year when she was away on holiday, this is the least I could do. I'll be sending her a text tomorrow to thank her and let her know my appreciation for what shes done.
Now all the shit is over, I think that without all the stress that music will flow again.

In fact, I am looking at getting an MBP [while laying in bed this morning I missed an MD mk2 for £600] and then Im going all out for a stateside holiday/ scoff fest @ the mccaig bakery.
