--> Just finished a little plugin that some of you may find useful. It adds a random 'humanize' delay (or advance) to incoming audio 'events' like drum hits. Events separated by digital silence get delayed by different amounts.

That's awesome. I was thinking of doing something similar a while ago.

Dude, that is a great idea!

thanks guys

One idea: might be nice to have an adjustable threshold value for audio event detection (though the results might be too wacky).

I was thinking of implementing something like this where there are very slight speedups and slowdowns (but I realized that I don't have the time to figure out the math).

Yeah that'd be neat. for my purposes though this does the trick so it's unlikely that i'll be extending it, but everyone is welcome to dload the source and hack something out of it, if they like.

nice work!

have you thought about tying it to a step clock? so that the random amount could be set on say and 8-step cycle?

hi skab: i'm not sure i follow, do you mean the ability to set it so that the delay amount cycles through 8 predefined (non-random) values? or something else?

very cool!
that's awesome
thanks for you

What i meant is that the early/late base could be set on a stepping cycle. So for example, on a 1 bar loop you could set it so beat 2 is always slightly early and beat 4 is always slightly late. The random amount could remain random.
I've found this link to be the most helpful component of Numerology for making human (or inhuman) sounding grooves. It's basically an early/late shifter for MIDI, which I often tie to a sample player to push audio backwards and forwards.

Anyways - top quality plugin!

Ah yeah, i've played with the groove clock when i tried the numerology demo. Very handy. Something like that for audio would certainly be possible, but a bit more tricky than this device to build (at least for me).

left - right channel offset would be nice too

I've never really 'got' AUs - is it just like a VST? Can I install and run it in Cubase or is it a Mac thing? I got a Mac too, so I can still find a use for it I'm sure...

au is short for AudioUnit. its a mac thing. but yes kinda like VSTs, but better.

just download
and copy into your Mac HD/Library/Audio/Plugins/Components folder
