i'm on the hunt for some good ole' fashion analog synth sounds. more specifically, albums with great synth sounds. i'm thinking along the lines of the analord series, b.o.c.-music has the right to children, mr. oizo-analog worms attack, autechre-incunabula, etc.
i lean more towards the wild tweaking and experimental side of synthesizers and less into pretty pads and prog rock keyboard solos.
other stuff i've been listening to lately:
bbc radiophonic workshop, jean-jacques perrey, moroder, bruce haack, vince clarke, luke vibert, add n to (x), bochum welt, meat beat manifesto, etc.
i'm basically looking for album recommendations, but individual songs with awesome synth sounds are also worth mentioning. | |

Hmmm...when I first saw the title of this blog I thought of "Messer Chups - Crazy Price". Having read the blog, i doubt this is what you are after...but a cracking good album nonetheless

messer chups yeah, not exactly what i was looking for but they definitely get played every halloween. i love the sounds they come up with.
...haven't heard of the keep. where might i find some of their music?

"The Keep" is a film, i think Tangerine Dream do the soundtrack?
I'd have said Add n to (X) too, specifically the Avant HArd album, specifically "Metal fingers in my body" and that massive fucking bass synth on "Revenge of the black regent".
Maybe check Large Number too (Anne Shenton from Addntox's new band)

two entries on the ambient tip:
coil - time machines: all analog synth, all awesome, excellent ~ambient~ from this chameleon group. I don't like anything else i've heard from them, personally, but this was A+ material.
rafael toral - engine: this 40 minute piece begins with modulars and ends with about 20 guitars 'playing' in unison. one cool thing about this album is that it's essentially made without human interaction, meaning the modulars control themselves and the guitars control themselves, it's all feedback and resonance etc. The second, guitar half is incredibly lush and beautiful. The first, synth half is also excellent though less 'pretty'.
another fellow to check out if you want the music with the synths is Hive Mind, who makes something like 'dark ambient' or 'synth noise' or something. anyway, his stuff is all analog electronics+looping, pretty much.
