i'm on the hunt for some good ole' fashion analog synth sounds. more specifically, albums with great synth sounds. i'm thinking along the lines of the analord series, b.o.c.-music has the right to children, mr. oizo-analog worms attack, autechre-incunabula, etc.
i lean more towards the wild tweaking and experimental side of synthesizers and less into pretty pads and prog rock keyboard solos.
other stuff i've been listening to lately:
bbc radiophonic workshop, jean-jacques perrey, moroder, bruce haack, vince clarke, luke vibert, add n to (x), bochum welt, meat beat manifesto, etc.
i'm basically looking for album recommendations, but individual songs with awesome synth sounds are also worth mentioning.

^^ ALL preceeding - great suggestions! also...
- any Tangerine Dream '71-'81. *beautiful* synth programming and use of sequencers
- All Kraftwerk '71 thru Electric Cafe
- Jean-Michelle Jarre: Oxygene, Equinox, Magnetic Fields
- Synergy (Larry Fast) - anything from the 70s and into 80s. Not familiar beyond...
- Plastikman (yes! 303s count!)
- LFO: Frequencies (<--- classic ode to classic acid-house)
- Hardfloor: Respect (303/909 heaven - some stunning moments)
- Air Liquide: Abuse Your Illusions, The Increased Difficulty of Concentration (<--- amazing tweaky analog goodness + beats!)
- Most tracks from early days of Structure
- Jammin' Unit: Chemical Dub
I could go on (and on, and on.....), but I think you'll be set for a LONG WHILE between everyone's suggestions. I'd be curious to know what you think of Air Liquide... those guys absolutely blow me away with their chops. Met them a few times... Walker is a brilliant mad-man. He knows the ARP 2600 better than ARP does - he has at least 6 of them. ;)

in addition to the already mentioned, you should hear:
Giorgio Moroder- From Here to Eternity
Hamilton Bohannon- Phase II
Everything Moog Cookbook
Yellow Magic Orchestra- Go Home
A Bossa Eletrica- Eletrificacao
Sir Christopher Scott- Switched on Bacharach
And especially: White Noise-Electric Storm. If you have never heard this record, you NEED to!

i haven't heard it yet but the new matmos is 100% synths. that is the concept for this record. they always have a concept.
other synth heavy stuff:
andrea parker (works w/david morley)
david morley
link
funckarma and all their aliases, legiac (very synth heavy), cane, cenik, mystery artist, quench, shadow huntaz (look for the instrumental versions on SKAM)
link
link
(they have a million releases that span genres so don't be turned off you if hear something that isn't your thing.. there's so much!)
the 'gwane moan EP' by mystery artist is great
bochum welt (kissing a robot goodbye)
arpanet
two lone swordsmen - "A virus with shoes" is a classic.
that's all i can think of right now.

yeah, I've only heard "A Chance to Cut is a Chance to Cure" and "The Civil War" but they're the only people I've hear who can really pull off concept albums. I was readin about that new one, gotta check it out.
personally, I'd say Gescom though all their stuff is as much sampler & FM synth as it is analog.
did anyone mention Drexciya or Dopplereffekt? I guess Arpanet is some of the same people.
