Ive bought (finally) a g4 12 inch screen and im looking for stuff to put there mostly free stuff.
I already tested Argeïphontes Lyre, wich is great.
Any links lying around just post, so i can have some fun.

since you've got a g4 you probably got garage band (really can't recommend logic express enough not free though)

crystal vst (you can run in garageband)

audacity for general recording

soundflower from cycling 74 to pipe audio from program to program.

Soundhack is a great tool, non-realtime, so it won't hurt your computer much
other than that, check studiotools, it has a ton of interesting apps

link]Numerology[/url] is a great modular sequencer system. It's not free, but only 55 euros.

55 euros is roughly half the price of my last used ibook

yeah try renoise. on a g4 the demo is better than on XP cause u don't need ASIO to get no latency. and besides it's only 80 bucks if you decide you need to buy the full version. Until then you could just record ur tracks to a cassette player or vcr or something. YA.
