A Pioneering Yorkshire firm has invented an invisible sound system which is set to revolutionise audio technology.
FeONIC, a spin-out company from Hull University, designed the F-Drive, which is capable of turning almost any surface into a high-quality loudspeaker.
The company also came up with the Whispering Window, which uses glass panes as speakers.

hey jef, long time no see... there's a kid toy version of this called the soundbug... doesn't sound very good. Hopefully this sounds better...

That would be freaky on any drug if a window started whispering to me

i imagine the resonant properties of the material would be a major factor in how good it sounds... haven't heard the sound bug but i almost bought them. i figured that if they were the miracle app for cool speakers they would be a lot more popular!
the density and resonant properties of whatever surface you choose are the major factors.
it would be interesting to se how hard you could drive a whispering window.. i wonder if it would be possible to shatter the glass??

the fact that it is a 'yorkshire company' worries me most. no offence to anyone from yorkshire, but thought it was all about tea, bread and biscuits up there? ;)

badass, I want one to turn my ceiling into a speaker to disturb my annoyingly loud upstairs neighbors by playing the huey lewis quote from "back to the future".

Oh man, how great would it be to bring something like this on the road, and just hook up to a wall or the floor where you wanted to play. want!
