I'm thinking of putting a few tracks up on last.fm. Has anyone else had anything to do with them? Their terms of use seem pretty sensible to me, since they explicitly state your rights to back out and do whatever you want with your tracks.

so i hope that people find my (and my label's) music there too.

I was a audioscrobbleroholic a few years back. So much so that when their system went down for a week or so I wrote my own...

only now beginning to check out last.fm, seems well designed, fast.
I've been using pandora.com to discover stuff I might like but haven't come across...
served well with a side of Audio Hijack Pro ;)

last.fm is great! i love both the statistical aspect of my own listening as well as finding approaches / departures / intersections.
not to mention a wonderful marketing tool for DIY folk

hmmm. I've had an account on Last FM for some time now. It's 'cool' - but unless they've fixed it, once your account is up you can't delete it, or change it. Perhaps they've fixed that, as I haven't checked in a bit. I had made a non-musician account as 'antfactor' (silly me) - then later wanted to make it a music account. SORRY - can't do that. But the system allowed me to make another account as "Antfactor" - 'cause apparently caps count - and my original account acts kind of like a 'label' of sorts for both 'Antfactor' and 'copepod'. I don't get it. Maybe they've fixed some of these issues... but just be very careful about what you commit to account wise. 'Cause from my experience you can't seem to "fix" anything post-processing.

Does anybody have an alternative to last.fm for getting your music listened to? I've been having a look at the following places:
last.fm - alright, not sure how people find you - random perhaps?
jamendo - nice idea badly done. Soo many bugs and still for moderation on my music
reverbnation - seems good too, again I'm not sure how people get to hear you
archive.org - will try once i get their upload tool working on my machine
ilike - try it out, would propably require loads of facebook work
myspace - can't bring myself to work with their shitty interface.
I'm looking for free hosting and free promoting and I'm distributing the music for free.
maybe I'm impatient..

talking to b-nox of battleofthebits, it seems like the best setup for hosting your music is to put it in 3 places: your own site, last.fm, and archive.org. Make sure that you get good coverage, and your music is always up there somewhere.
