--> I come to em411 for news, inspiration and candor. What I leave with is all of the above and then some. This month I have a slew of questions, comments, confessions and conundrums that have been percolating. Feel free to address any of my concerns.

1. 'Member when I quit my job last year? I haven't worked full time since and I am loving it. I left behind the miserable guise of corporate banker and found renewed interest in my literary exploits and started teaching elementary school. Subbing for now and doing other side jobs, though I have really rescued my sanity. Also, my commute is local so I bought a 10-speed. Gas prices get a giant ballon middle finger and my day to day living is graced with all sorts stimulating encounters as I coast on by. Also, one vocal track away from finishing my first album!

2. VST Samplers. I was kinda pissed off when Vember Audio stopped developing Shortcircuit and released both versions of the software as freeware--after I had laid down a buck fifty for them. Great sampler nonetheless, there are some cpu issues with sc1 and host session load time issues with sc2. What VST sampler(s) out there have nonsense-free drag-and-drop sample loading with a reasonable assortment of parameter mod capability built right into it...and not break the bank?

3. Being so busy producing the album for our band, I have lost touch with my em roots and have often spent half-hours tooling around on XT, etc. lusting after the occasion to flesh out some sample mangling, wicked grooves, lush ambience or SOMETHING ELSE OTHER THAN RAGING GUITARS. I want to breakout of the bedroom studio and try doing an em collabo with someone out here in LA. Wanna put some jams together, do a show??

4. Dadaism. A meaningful aesthetic lineage in the 'post 9-11' world? Discuss.

LOL @ 'meaninful" and "dadaism" in the same sentence.

rad on album!

1. Congrats!
2. For multisampling? dunno. For one shots & stuff? FL Studio.
3. Sounds fun, but not in LA.
4. Like "fight back at the empire's logic with irrationality"? Didn't work then, won't work now. Anyway Dada only looks fun from a distance.

don't mix up dada with dodo.

your new ife sounds great. congrats on the move

2) yep me too. i was devastated after they were released for free. i used to hit their forum every day looking and hoping for an update to SC2. i don't know if there's anything better than SC, DirectWave maybe? but i get the impression is not meant for mangling much...

Dadaism in todays world= Irrational response to irrationality?

1. Congrats on the 10 speed. I havent driven to work in 2 years, I bike 15 miles to work everyday too..well worth it.

nice i have gone down to 16 hours a week work and the rest in studio
or doing gigs or cycling its the best way i can live i think.

i would say halion on kontakt for vst samplers - not cheap though.

i don't live in la. sorry

dont know much dada dodo. but surrealism is always a good way to look at the world through different eyes.

I might move to LA soon, but I think I am more into raging guitars than EM. ;)

wish I could ride my bike to work... a bit longer distance than my current level of health can support... cool that you can.

raging guitars... fun stuff! Yes - do some drifty ambient to counterbalance. no where near LA so can't help you there.

hey, i live in LA and want to start playing out, send me em mail and we can chat
