This is a decent article with Prodigy, Moby, and Underworld. They talk about the scene, and breaking into the US market.

"Apart from maybe The Chemical Brothers and The Prodigy, electronic dance music has been made by faceless producers in bedroom studios. That's part of the beauty of the scene, but music being so anonymous makes it hard for corporations to get behind it." -- Moby

nice artical. i agree with the comments though, that everybody is making sense except for moby.
never understood him as an artist. early on he made some interesting sounds. and then he made a series of uninteresting sounds.
the entire time the music behind the sound has been uneven in quality. . . although that is true of everybody.
the quality of his work seems to be in inverse proportion to the number of interviews he gives.

I also suffer from mobyphobia. lol @ hyperbolic text: "did the unthinkable" .

I love how today there are 3 artists that you are not allowed to say you ever liked.

Metallica
Green Day
Moby

When I was younger I always wished someone like Yo La Tengo would be more popular... now I see why that is a bad thing. Music isn't "fun" anymore. So much that even the "fun" music is forced... like being at a wedding doing the hokey pokey/chicken dance. That's my take on Dan Deacon

djugel - Metallica say wha??? Really? I've never heard of Metallica shame. Anyone who doesn't like Metallica is dumb.

Mob rage is quite common in this day and age"

as is moob rage

True, people are slowly getting over the Metaliica thing... possibly because they just haven't done much in awhile.

I have to say ... The Unforgiven II ... is pretty unforgivable though... fuck!

I liked Metallica until Lars started being a douche. I even got into them from "Load" which was basically when they started making watered down country-metal. I still like playing the intro to "Battery" (slowly and sloppily) on acoustic guitar from time to time.

I loved Green Day when I was younger. Not to condescend. No love for "American Idiot" though, none at all.

I got into Moby junior year of high school when "Play" came out because I was going through this phase where I felt like basically all electronic music was good, although I didn't understand drum n bass. I still like that song near the end of "Play" with the slow thumping kick and the big thick chords...reminds me of the glow of the refrigerator on a warm summer night.

But all of them can eat my ass now. Especially Moby. Moby is the Bono of "electronica".

i got into metallica in the 9th grade(i'm old). i got "ride the lightening" first. i loved metallica. after cliff burtin died they started to suck. "and justice..." had some decent stuff on it but after that they turned into shit. "the black album" is a fucking atrocity. bob rock should be hanged in a new jersey mall. they are currently being produced by rick rubin who is pushing them back towards a master of puppets vibe. i guess a year or so ago they went on tour in south america and played master of puppets beginning to end every night.

I never liked moby except for one early song that was a 12inch and played in clubs.

greenday slept on my friends floor in miami and smoked all his weed when they came to miami. they played in a place that was the size of your average 7-11. i had never heard of them but my friend said "it's girlie night so you should go" and all i remember about the show is lot's of "whoooooooo ohhhhhhh ohhhhhhhh eeeeeeee oohhhhhhhh" type sing a long stuff like weezer. i can listen to green day. i think they're decent enough as far as that sound goes. it's radio music to me..like weezer. road trip sing a long songs. pop.

i guess that's all as relevant as that article when it comes to the "future of electronic music in america"

that's because james hetfield is trying to sing instead of just screaming like he should. he should either start drinking again or un-learn his crooning and 'end of word inflection' style of singing.

it's funny to watch that video then think of "some kind of monster"

also, have you heard the bosstones cover of enter sandman??? fucking hilarious.

I think Enter Sandman was the biggest letdown of my life ... my friend says his was the new Star Wars movies.

We both should have seen it coming ... with And Justice For All and Return of the Jedi being 60% crap

the black album is a joke. my friend bought some of the rare box set things they put out w/studio out takes and super rough drafts of the songs. some of it is just so bad and funny and painful to hear. they seriously lots it on that one and haven't gotten it back. why they worked w/bob rock i'll never know. maybe they just wanted to sell a bunch of records and make some cash. when the black album came out ALL of their previous albums were in the top40 album charts for 3 years. wtf.

"people get sick of granola and start wondering if plastic tastes okay."

that quote is beautiful. and so very true.
