--> Ok. I just finished my federal Stafford Loan Exit Interview. They estimate my annual discretionary income will be $-14,000.
I'll be paying either $178/mo for 30 years or $308/mo for 10 years. For a job that pays $30,000.

So, all that whining about feeing bad about not getting make music. Forget that happened.

I know there are some great financial aids for medical school if you promise to practice 1+ years in a rural community.
I'm not sure about masters'... but its worth looking into possibly

American Academy of Family Physicians link
Rural Policy Research Institute link
Rural Medical Educators Home Page link
National Rural Health Association link
Federal Office of Rural Health Policy link

I don't think I could ever get into medical school as a teacher with only decent grades!

I was thinking more.... do these organizations also offer assistance to masters students?

Pfft..that's nothing my gropefruit graduates this Fall, and she is going to be paying off a $50k+ loan...for a MFA..so don't give us your whining.. ;-)

Dave, you might want to look into Sonology...its a newer field, and is definitely something right up your alley..

wow that'S quite a lot.
i still weird to me that education seems to be so expensive in quite a lot of countries.
hope you get this sorted out in the long run.

argh!

that's hard core. Hopefully you figure out some sort of solution, maybe refinancing or somethig, but i'm a dimwit when it comes to the financial world.

I'm glad I did my "valuable life experience" after I'd worked for a while.I saved up most the money I needed before I went and got 3k loan. I studied photography and loved it...I did work at it being a professional for a 6 six months but music photography the style I fell into didn't pay peanuts!

I'm a Internet Marketeer/Web Manager...London is a pricey place to live!

I guess I'm kinda glad I was rejected by the schools I applied to in the states!

average student loan debt for future productive members of society: $20-50k
brand new, shiny B2 stealth bomber that we all paid for but will never get to ride in: $1.2 billion

yeah, my student loan total was something like $60k at its worst. Fucking sucked.
