Electronic Music other: Unpopular Music Opinions
Store Written May 07 2008
Spawned by discussion in the fave 90s albums:

What albums do popular opinions w/in the e-music community seem to hold in high regard that you dislike intensely?

Mine: Drukqs. Hate it. Predictable, boring, post-jungle retread.

all rap involving gold teeth.
much of Autechre is overrated
*hides under the table
apart from a couple of tunes, i think boards of canada are as dull as dishwater.
i dont really listen to music hardly at all except stuff ive had for ages that i like
i think richard d james album was a step backwards
theres plenty of stuff thats popular with other people that i dont like but i dont listen to it so my opinions arent worth much
i mean like ive heard radiohead maybe twice and wasnt impressed but because theres so much of it i havent heard i dont know enough about it to say its bad
I can't get into Jamie Lidell. I've tried. Not sure what it is, but something stops me from digging his tunes. Again, obviously the massive skills are recognized. I just find the music doesn't speak to me as anything imaginative or interesting.
i didn't read what all you guys wrote, because i'm hung over and lazy, but HEY HOW CAN YOU HATE DRUKQS????
ARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!
and on topic:
i don't get Boards Of Canada.
what's the big deal about them?
boooooring!
over all, i have never really cared for squarepusher. his music has never done much for me. although i do appreciate the blatant sense of humour that is in it. and a random list of bands that get alot of hype that have never done anything for me:
pink floyd (unless it is with syd barritt)
radiohead
beck
bijork
nirvana (it seems as such: if you are over thirty you don't like them, under thirty you do)
venetian snares (meh... i could take or it leave it, but mostly leave it)
fredo viola (okay, i am kidding about that one)

and chiptune is good in theory, but almost always loses something in practice, for the most part.
lately I've been out shopping and been driven out of stores over and over by music that sucks worse and worse and worse until I just set down what I'm looking at, and walk out. Usually they are playing lame ass "college rock" by people like JOHN MAYER.
Laub. Boring and predictable 'crossover' mixmax of hip styles. Something to forget about very quick
