What albums do popular opinions w/in the e-music community seem to hold in high regard that you dislike intensely?

Mine: Drukqs. Hate it. Predictable, boring, post-jungle retread.

im too isolated to know

+1 to autechre and let the schism begin

Who are the people who do that "firestarter" song? is that Prodigy? Anyway that's my pick.

And I can't believe nobody's mentioned Moby. I guess that moby-hating thread from a while ago must have already quenched the need.

i dont imagine that the prodigy or moby are held in high regard by the 'e-music community' (whoever they are)

twee, "warm", precious, major melodies and chord progressions with no dynamics totally fuckin' suck.
especially when realized with software, with pure clean waveforms (especially sine waves with immediate attack and long release tails) and analog or FM drums. and maybe some bitreduce. never, ever any reverb.
and then it claims to be IDM and people will compare it to Boards of Canada, even though it is apparent to me that Boards of Canada go to great lengths to get dirty, earthy, organic sounds.
I have heard way, way too much of this shit, especially out of netlabels. I haven't heard it in a while but I still hate it.

also: I love reverb.

god... i hate NIN.
i remember one of my good friends loved them and made me watch a live DVD whilst we were coming down.
ugh...
Recent blogs: Cheston Dies, My Album, my mates band

I don't know how often she's mentioned but I really can't stand Peaches. I really don't see what so great about the beats or the vocals. Same goes for pitchfork poster boy Girl Talk.

weird, i agree with almost everything listed here... (besides perhaps the Boards of Canada hate)...
i hate whole genres!

Trip Hop: OMG I loved Portishead's "Dummy". Why did the rest of trip hop (with the exception of Mezzanine) suck such major ass?? Zzzzzzz.

Glitch: Yeah, I got buffer override, too. And who can think R. Devine's or Vsnares sound creation skills compensate for their utter lack of mastering skills or anything else?

Melodica, down-tempo, emotional IDM: Isan, Bola, and the like? Its fucking new age music with a little buffer override on the drums. WHAT ARE WE, 50-year old hippes?? Go buy a dream catcher to go with your CD collection!

Bjork, and all the pop-IDM crossover acts that followed her: I liked her better when she wrote songs. As for all the pop-IDM crossover acts? A little too close to EMO for my taste. bubblegum is bubblegum, not art.

Aleatoric & Generative music: Just because a computer wrote it doesn't absolve you from the blame or releasing boring music.

DnB: I love Photek! Why do the rest of you suck such major ass? there's more drum beats than Boom-chk boom...Boom-chk.

So much hate
so little wuv

Actually, I am as full of hate for certain kinds of music as anyone else. But I'm unsure what being bitter about it accomplishes.

mlbots right. as soon as anything seems like a novel idea to a wide range of people, it starts to get heavily diluted with people who have no business otherwise.

plus: hooray for photek!

I think people make music for the wrong reasons nowadays.

Too much music is too eager to be loved - I think Jamie Lidell went down this route.

I think a lot more music nowadays is all surface - and it kind of disgusts me.

You are right. We need more GG Allins. ;P

I'd rather have GG Allin than Girl Talk

roshi -- as soon as you start feeling bitter about your music hate, the fun is gone from it. Enjoy and revel in your disgust!

I hate photek!
