--> So, I just learned that OS X has a command line text to speech program called say that renders to your speaker or .aif. There are a variety of fun voices you can use, my personal favorite is Zarvox.

example: say -v Zarvox What up EM411

Obviously, I am having a productive day here at work.

LOL

this made me laugh at work

the last part is stellar!

thanks

Oh man,

this would be great prank to play on someone - program a cron job to say things like "stop touching yourself" at inopportune moments

You can log in remotely with ssh and tell them to stop picking their nose or whatever

Cool, I've mapped the voice to a key before to speak highlighted text, but didn't know you could do it in terminal.

I'm going to have fun with this...

PS. try this:

"say -v Cellos who the fuck put tuna in tuna in my oven who the fuck put tuna in my oven last friday who were you and why did you run away run away who were you and why did you run away on that day i just want to let you know let you know let you know i just want to let you know that it did not explode i hate you and your damn guts your damn guts your damn guts I hate you and your damn guts you shysteee bitch ass cunt l o l o l o l l o l l o l l o l o l o l o l r o f l l o l o l o l l o l l o l l o l o l o l o l r o f l l o l o l o l l o l l o l l o l o l o l o l r o f l l o l o l o l l o l l o l l o l o l o l o l r o f l"

For those of you who are macless, I have this:

link

open multiple terminals for harmonies

gorf that is hilarious

PC has TTS engines. someone recently posted about shit talker: link which is quite fun PC.
@jdg: does your old blue bubble mac have terminal say also? i will make your box talk! pwned! end sarcastic rudeness... =)

I once worked in a computer lab where, one bored day, we logged into a cow-orker's Linux (or was it Solaris? I don't recall) machine and ran this job:

(sleep 200; eject /dev/cdrom; sleep 1; eject -t /dev/cdrom) &

Great fun.
