people say birth is a magical thing. as a modern husband, we're rather expected to be in the delivery room and not sit in a waiting room, though if I could go back in time, I'd seriously considering staying in the waiting room.

I've been on the receiving end of my two children, stood by all the screaming and grunting (my wife elected an all-natural, no-meds birth for both). I watched them crown and pop out, cut the cords, and held them in all their baby-goo.

I don't know if magical is the right word. It's borderline horrifying. You're happy when it's all over, tearful even, but it's quite a shock.

If you've ever hunted, and field-dressed your kill, you'll already be familiar with the smell. Not something you can forget. not trying to be gross, I left out the really shocking parts for you to discover.

well, I hope it goes smoothly for her. wishing for all the best for you two

thanks monkey, I was pretty confident right up untill you posted that....

Monkey+1 has field-dressed his own kills.

note to self: be extra careful to be nice to Monkey+1

oh, the shocking part definitely involves pooping.

We're expecting a baby any day now too. Should've come into this world last saturday, but I suppose it's doing fine in the womb (we don't know if it's a boy or a girl).

I've witnessed to births, and I thought it was really magic and moving. Beautiful even, sure it's a bit sticky and bodily, but the first moment you see your newborn there's this intense feeling of a bond, that whatever the circumstances (in our case birth at home without any form of medication) it is just simply stunning.

Good luck and enjoy the moment

Holy shit dude. Hang in there over the next few months. Sleep is about to become a distant memory.

heh, this is not so different from the act of procreation

old snl skit(paraphrased)

lisa: mom, where do babies come from?

mrs. lupner: well lisa, its just like making egg salad. the woman supplies the eggs
and the man supplies the mayonaisse.

today's the day!! pics!!

no worries, I'm a harmless vegan now, only hunted as a teen, per family tradition - I wasn't ever that into it
