--> So I've finally finished the MIDIBox64 link based project I started way back in 8/07.

After being dissatisfied with a dozen or so controllers, and due to the lack of quality affordable DJ mixer style ones on the market, I bit the bullet and went the DIY route. Overall it cost around $400 to make (it would of been about $300 if I didn't make several ordering mistakes and splurge on super nice faders). It was by far the largest electronics project I've taken on and have the scars to prove it (aka I wanted to throw it out the window several times). Painful but worth it. I've never felt anything so damn hefty. It consists of 16 knobs, 5 faders, 16 arcade buttons, and 32 MIDI controlled LED buttons.

I plan on using it primarily for "crazy" 4 channel chopped up DJ sets in Live and simple sets in Traktor. I'm also in the midst of making some simple step sequencers for it in Max to take advantage of the fancy led buttons.

Let me know what you think...

Great work here! So, what's your next project?

track and field anyone...?

Thanks, first I have to create a set that lives up to the controller. It's funny I finished it and then realized "wow I'm sort of a crap DJ"

After that I'm making an Arduino based step sequencer to sequence 4 lofi voice recorders/loopers, which will then record 4 randomly scanning car radios with a large roof antenna attached. Sound ridiculous enough...

Sort of like this link , but with a simple randomizable sequencer. I hope the output is sort of like a Christain Marclay, Akufen, Scanner lovechild.

Nice! I've been thinking of tinkering with the Arduinos as well... mainly to sent out +5 v pulses to some CV based drum hits. Your use of arcade buttons is rad!!! Where did you order those?

Awesome thanks for the heads up.
looks really nice, and love the finishing and all those lovely details you brought in
just brilliant!

very nice.

That is truly a thing of beauty - well done! I'm inspired and trying to figure out if there's a way to get an arcade ipac/jpac to do something similar. I found it really easy to put together, so hopefully I'll finally make one. I don't think it'll look as nice though!

can I borrow it tomorrow night? <3ly (lovely)

the arcade buttons are genius! especially the # of players buttons. super hot!
