--> maybe you've read my blog about my return to france after nearly 1 year in australia.

i was sad, and it took me a while to get used to shitty france.

it's been better for a month or so, and i'd found a new dream, a new purpose: getting a green card to work in the USA and spend a long time there maybe.

and i just learnt that i missed the Lottery...

so next year... but France looks shittier and shittier every day now.

so i'm sad again.

yea dont leave france dude. you're crazy. nobody wants into america. it sucks.

"i'm sorry, but the rest of the world is WAY more racist than america. I promise. our racists just get more press.
I hate to be the conservative blowhard of this thread, but socialism is the reason france is having so much trouble."

Denmark? Sweden? Canada? Capitalism is the reason everything sucks.

everything must be generalized to a degree when having a conversation over the internet, lest you want a two page essay on the fall of paris.
I agree though, Europe is not having a fun time right now w/ the multiculturalism."

It wasnt an attack - just that everywhere in europe is having some sort of issue with 'immigration' but the 'blame' for the issues are always easily laid at the feet of immigrants. The problem isnt with immigration but with blaming immigrants for everything.

I saw a podcast on current.tv the other night about racism in russia and the young russian guys in the videos said about how, after the collapse of the USSR and the russian economy now having a boom that employers were using cheap immigrant labour instead of expensive russians. So their logic dictated that they should threaten, even kill a few immigrants so that they fear going there thus keeping the jobs for russians - Im naturally from the standpoint that if you organise and unionise labour then industrialists cant pay anyone a shitty cheap wage but that seems to be a step to far for some people to consider.

It was a similar attitude in the UK in the late 50s/early 60's with an influx of Caribbean immigrants - there was an attitude that 'all these blacks are taking our jobs' - jobs that british people didnt want to do because they considered that they were below them. go back to the end of the 19th century and you'll see the same attitude towards the influx of eastern european jews that were stuffed into the ghetto that was the east end of london. It rose its ugly head again with Oswald Mosely and his black shirts [and the battle of cable street] in the early 30's

All I was, and am saying, is that 'problems with immigration' has been spouted as an 'issue' for years, decades, if not centuries but is a misdirection of the real problems, so really is a non-starter.

do i have like some mean way of writing that makes people think i get offended easily or is it just the internets?

that's not really accurate. plenty of people want in to america. for all it's faults and all the shitty things we do around the world living here is still pretty amazing compared to lots of other places...

I spoke to a croatian guy the other night who was working w/the UN (USA) during the war and he was going on about all the misery and what it was like and working as a translator and how when it was over the USA paid for him to come to america and get settled as a refugee. he LOVES america and has traveled coast to coast a few times ... though he is going home soon. he was explaining how lucky it is for americans not to know what its like to be invaded or have a history like that of europe for the world wars destroying everything and uprooting people etc and that of course we are spoiled and that the main problem is that people are not connected, drive everywhere and can have anything any time they want.. any fruit or vegetable any time of year no matter what's in or out of season.. it gets shipped here.

he said in croatia you wait for something to be in season and as that season approaches all you can think about is strawberries or whatever then once the day is here you go to the farmers market and buy 2 dozen strawberries and eat half of them on the way home and the thought of any of it going to waste is ridiculous.. here he said he buys strawberries any time and half of them rot in the refrigerator.

he asked me how i defined freedom and i told him that freedom is just not having to even think about it.

we were all kind of drunk so i'm sure i butchered the conversation some but it was a good one that went all over the place. his stories about the serbs and genocide and trying to deliver food to camps and stuff were pretty amazing.

oh, immigration is good. good for the gene pool. good to have a young workforce..

maybe its your litigious nature that goes all out whenever anyone questions the validity of your space opera religion ;-)

in the end, we are all at the mercy of the Global Market Shitstem.
mere pawns in the chess game of international supply and demand.

who knows, in 50 years time maybe all our grand kids will be climbing over the Great Wall of China in the middle of the night looking for a better life.

hmm. oh yeh. there's that ...

yo ignatius. i was totally joking. i love America.

except for the politicians ... but what are you gonna do?

cool story.

Zanf-
Thats exactly the "immigrant problem" I'm talking about. Thank you.

i think i was misunderstood... i was talking about usa and its "strange people" but it's kind of an imaginary vision, right ?

i wouldn't try to define problems in usa, to find causes, symptoms and i wouldn't try to look like a guy who know America's history, 'cause i think it's infinitely more complex than what i would imagine, and i know that.

i also try not to believe all that i read or hear or see on the radio, in the papers and on the tv, and i think it's a good behavior.

the "riots" that happened in france 2 years earlier weren't racial riots AT ALL, right ? and i won't let anyone spread some wrong words certainly learnt by mass media, and there is a lot of rubbish here that i don't even want to argue.

when you're not even able to read french or any european language, don't talk about what you obviously don't know and understand, it's a bit arrogant.

get your own 'chip on your shoulder' going - mines taken years to develop and im not going to let some upstart teacher steal it ;-)

can i be so bold as to suggest that the problem isn't really france. nor is it the USA, Australia, the uk or wherever else you are you think sucks.
