--> I got my diploma today, on my birthday. Thats good, since I didn't get anything else. You see, thats because I'M MOVIN OUTTA HERE.
After a long discussion, my wife and I decided that its high time we stopped being so responsible, and time we started getting aggressive about things we wanted. And atop that list, is a nice place to live on the West coast. Since she has a nice job offer on the Kitsap Peninsula, we'll be going there.

Thats a map of my trip. OMFG is that ever a long way. If you stretch it out straight, you can go all the way from Ho Chi Minh City to Perth Australia. Or all the way from Rome to central Africa. And I'm about to drive that. $800 in gasoline by my estimate. Another $1885 to move all of our stuff by a freight company.
I am petrified. I have no job, no idea where I'll be living, nothing. Gonna have our stuff held at a storage center for a few days while we drive around.
SO LOOKOUT, HIPPIES!
I'm coming to town to gawk at your harbor seals and fish throwers at your farmers markets, and get a job or go broke trying.

Sounds great! If inscriptions on bottles of booze have taught us anything, it's that fortune favors the brave.

Have a safe & fun trip, and all the best with it. Please let us know how it goes!

Washington has been super wet this year but we also get a good share of heat in the summers. It depends on which side of the state you're on. On the west side where all the people are you get a pretty good amount of regular rain. On east side, where I am, it's pretty dry, in fact it's a pseudo-desert biome called palouse. It's not unusual to hit 105F (40.6C) over here in July and August. Fortunately we also have lots of lakes.

I think the market is still pro-renters right now, as in its hard for people with rental properties to find a good stable renter.
The NW had a a big boom in home sales quite recently, meaning lots and lots of renters quit renitng and bought houses...
i dunno 'bout bremerton, but hopefully there's a lot on the market.

happy Bday! See you soon.

Congrats and it will be good to see you in the neighborhood... that being Cascadia!
What did you get a diploma in too?

I think I beat you on length of the trip, I moved from Tallahassee to Portland. Had to make it in 3 days. Drove a 26 ft truck packed w/ all my stuff, trailing a car. Then we had another car driving behind w/ 3 cats and 2 birds in it. Fucking crazy 14 hour days, but we made it! Good luck w/ everything, you'll love the Pacific NW ...

remember edzapp.com for finding a job in the school sys ...

My diploma is a Bachelor's of Science in education. I'll be licensed as a middle school teacher, so that's what I'll be looking for a job doing.
And there looks to be a ton of stuff on the market, if the internet is any indication.

LOL.

Happy B-Day Dave!! You will love the drive, once you get way out of the Midwest.. I will be up in WA sometime this summer, so I will see you soon.

a former digital music teacher of mine lives over that way... never spent much time in bremerton, but just north of there is pretty boring... take the ferry to seattle, often, thats my only advice
