Hello emers all,
Time for my monthly cluster performance! This time I did an upbeat little ditty called Friendship Is... The different thing about this performance is that one of the voice is mighty processed to sound like a strange solo instrument. Also, I gated one of the live voices at the climax. But it's still all live to digital. And I shot this one in my kitchen/livingroom, so please take a gander!

If you want to get the 5th voice to sound like it's in the same room, try placing the stereo mic exactly where it was when you recorded the voice, then place a speaker at shoulder height where you were standing, feed the processed 5th voice (minus any reverb) through the speaker, and record the room ambeince, and use that as a reverb instead. In addition to making it sound like the 5th voice is in the same room as the rest, the proximity effect will roll off the low end of the 5th voice, which it needs.
I guess the newfangled way to do that would be to take an impulse of the room and feed the 5th voice through a convolution reverb. But the old-skool way will do the job.

Great advice, kenrestivo! Thanks! I am going to try that! But as well, I'm interested in the convolution reverb way. I use Space Designer in logic and have always wondered how to take an impulse of a room. What do you need to do? Clap or something in the room? Do you know?
Thanks astroid and fakeBlooper.

excellent - great job
i love the concentration that goes into that one beat skipped clap
the processed voice is v good - good for live performances - sing - then hit the pedal and do a voice solo (AC/DC style)
you're working towards that DVD collection.....

ha! Yeah, the claps are the best and worst parts of the video. It really was a test, which explains the relaxed attitude, but I wish I'd put some thought into the claps so they wuld have been a bit better. That second voice goes way off near the end. Thanks so much, I'm glad you liked it!

Thanks! Reading up about that I think I closely resemble one on the inside as well.

You talented bastard you. This is pretty inspiring stuff. After watching the last one I set to working on a song comprised of only my own vocal emanations (and I'm no singer by a longshot) on my sp-404. It's coming along after alot of processing and restarts. It's cool to see the idea of vocals processed and used as an instrument implemented by someone who can actually sing well. Cheers for another creative release from Fredo.
