3. panning synced to a boring LFO
4. comb filtered drum breaks
5. rhodes in a dnb song
6. trance gate
7. reverse cymbol build up
8. switching time sigs for no reason.

snarerush.

PS, jdg, I am disappointed in your fotoshop skills.

I ALWAYS do n. 3:
3. panning synced to a boring LFO

I'm too lazy to automate panning, and my songs are already completly full of automations.
This is my only sin, sorry JDG!

I hate it when people will take a sound and then reverse back through it to make said sound last longer ;)

actually, my biggest pet peeve regarding sound these days is how bright most software pianos are...most would sound good if it wasn't for that.

making everything sound close to the front of the mix (depth vs. punch)
over-compression
over-panning
amen break

I think this post has been more inspiring to me than something to talk about. Tonight I shall pointlessly and intensely pan acoustic drum samples.

yeah , the rhodes in 'nose funk' by stainless on djax records is sooooo hot.

my biggest peeve is over-hawtness / compression (only because I have a problem with this myself, so I hate it when other people do this)

oh and loud cymbalish sounds that hurt the delicate flowers that I call ears
where is your love for bombast?

vocoded cover versions of Phil Collins songs

is rhodes all right in a non-dnb context?

totally.
i love rhodes. to deth.
im gonna buy one next.. i love them. sound so goooood.

Organ sounds in House Music

i love panning. panning is powerful.

listen to autistici's songs.. he has mastered the pan.

i love hard panned 4-track work around pans.

see, those pans have reason.

but there is no reason to pan a lead, synced to an LFO that just goes LEFT - RIGHT -LEFT RIGHT... NO REASONSSS.

filtered vox tho.
thats my lest fav. EVER.. why do it? oh, the singer cant sing.

hate:
1. thinking " how did they make that sound?" followed by "why did they make that sound?"
2. hearing a cool sample in a cool tune and then hearing the original and realising that the cool tune isn't really cool, just some PD iddy electronix
3. baad maths.

love:
1. the bit where i think i know what the groove is going to be, but i am totally wrong
2. vladislav delay
3. a really good melody
4. basslines that don't seem to have any pitch at all
5. gooood maths
