--> Prompted by rogerroger's 'how do you do it post', and daswesens emtv episode i made a kind of 'over the shoulder' recording while working on a track today--because seeing how people work can be useful in unexpected ways.

Rush to see the bad sound, blurry image, warts-and-all vid here:

Its a shame i couldn't do the caputre with a screen recording app, but my cpu/hardisk, couldn't keep up so this is my laptop isight recording the computer screen, and the inbuilt mic recording the audio, while i work.

how did you do the audio ramps that fast?

daswesen said: "how did you do the audio ramps that fast?"

Just lots of practice i think. I used to use iKey with live, set up with some macros, including a ramp audio down/up key command.. that was a bit faster. i should look into setting that up again (but i'm secretly hoping that live 8 will allow programmable macros--yeah i know, fat chance )

rad. can't wait to watch this. blocked here at work.

that was fascinating

what is an audio ramp?

It's a European amplitude envelope.

the beat is hot. like way hot. is this for a new album or a one off or what?

lol@ european amp envelope!

thanks ig: yes this is a track from the next album. I'm going through them all now and working them up so that there's consistency between how they're produced. I keep saying it's 'nearly finished'.. but its been 'nearly finished' for quite a while now so i'll just say 'i'm working on the album' until it's released somewhere
awesomeness! You've given my hope that I can actually "edit" in live! do you find that you don't really need the ability to overlap clips? or do you a/b tracks iinstead when necessary?

modulr: into the space defined by the limitations of the tool i guess, so i don't find that i need overlapping clips, the 'monophonic track' model that was ingrained when i first stated with trackers seems quite natural for me.

I built a crossfade plugin which i use now and then, but generally for crossfading between longer phrases, rather than on a clip time-scale (fiddling with automation and routing is too fiddly for that) link

lol cryptic, that was supposed to read "you grow into the space defined by the limitations of the tool i guess"

haha! this is an awesome idea. like porn for INTPs.
Recent blogs: Signing Off, Audio OS?, suspended

intp: i need to pee's? maybe urban dictionary let me down.

cbit doesn't know what an INTP is.

everyone point and laugh!!!

ha ha!

Introversion, iNtuition, Thinking, Perceiving. link But as the article points out, it has no basis in scientific method.
