--> ever since I found out about this language, ive been enamored. I have made some headway as a total noobie (a couple of patches of really dope noise) but i am curious as to who is working with this language.

This is quite an exciting architecture. WHat do you guys think of it? has it crashed anyones comps? I crashed mine today. lol

midi is nop problem. the same with OSC.
shreds are supposed to be sample-synchronous so there should be no drift at all. everything is in sync perfectly. but the VM of chuck is not very optimized. so you can expect dropout at high loads. i also think chuck doesn't have any multi-core support so it will use one core only.

but for doing some quick sounds or trying out your new DSP idea there's no better tool around.

with miniaudicle you can also do some decent live coding. on osx also with GUI stuff (not on windows).

ChucK is amazing and has so much potential.

I messed around with it when I had a 32-bit machine, but I'm on a 64-bit Linux system, and ChucK is definitely NOT 64-bit clean, so it won't run. I've been told I could create a 32-bit chroot and get it to run inside that, but it sounds like too much work.

Last I checked, they were working on this Audicle thing to create a fancy GUI for it. There's also a Java-based GUI for an automatic breakbeat generator (sorry don't remember link or name of it) that uses ChucK as its audio backend and communicates with it using OSC.

Can someone explain what ChucK is, or perhaps give me a link that would do so? Is a free like Csound?

Nick: link

chuck comes with a moderately hot female agent.

I had a play with chuck and I found it alot easier to learn but it did keep crashing on me and I thoughtI was better off just learning max/msp or reaktor because I know I can get the sound I want from it.

When Chuck is more complete I'm definately going to get into it!

man I need to learn differential calc...

Been digging into this during downtime at work and i'm sooo excited about it! Just baby steps now, but I really want to push myself and see if I can finish an EP or something with it. Open source EP!
