--> I went to a Ryoji Ikeda show yesterday.

it was really massive !
awesome black and white videos + subbasses, bleeps and spastic rythms. during some moments everybody in the theatre was falling in a half-sleep, then suddenly there was a big flash with a massive low kick and everybody was jumping on his seat.

the sound was really crispy and the video perfectly in sync with the sounds.

AW-E-SO-ME

the performance was really close to this:

i got the dataplex 2 cd. i just had a couple of listens. i liked it. but this is normally music, i don't just put on, when working or having friends around. so it doesn't get played that often.

How does he sequence these things, after a quick listen to Dataplex, it seems to me that it almost loops but I can't quite get my head around the rythyms. How's he doin that?

japanese magic

i would bet on serious max/msp patching.

is that his datamatics av project? I caught that last year. the one with the planes of dots is absolutely awesome. Really massive number of pointillist noise dots.
Recent blogs: Japan tokyo, kyoto, hokkaido

the video i linked is not the same show as the one that i saw, i saw the datamatics av show and yeah, really impressive, and inspiring.

Im gonna stop with the aphex beatz, and start with the ikeda bleeps instead

Why not get started on dach beats?

A friend of mine study's sonology in the Hague and makes muisc from html code, but in the end it all ends up in a sequencer...4/4 folowed by 13/8 makes you loose track...

random stuff is only nice when it is done in an orderly manor

i love raster-noton live.. they all tend to be really dynamic. very high standards.

i would also love to hear _ken_ ikeda live, that would be quite beautiful i think..

Beautiful stuff - I only have the (+/-) album - but what a visual experience to go with it...a bit jealous...but also inspired...
