--> Is anyone using micro cassette recorders? Any models or brands to you like?

I'm not looking for perfect recordings just something I can carry around with me then feed into my sound card afterwards.

I'll be ebaying my arse off for this!

I HAVE A PRETTY GREAT RECORDING OF MY SOUL BURSTING INTO FLAMES, DOES THAT INTEREST YOU?

if you were in the states I'd just send you mine... haven't used it in ages but it still works.

cmeif- hey, which mic did you get and which ipod have you? ive gopt a 3rd gen nano - wanted to know if it'll work with the old microphone...

cheers

It seems that I've brought a fake SONY ECM-DS70P!

link

I will put a review and a mp3 of it up when I get it through...only cost me 7 pounds so it can't be sniffed at.

I've had 2 of them. one a sony and the other i think it's either an aiwa or olympus. Those were like in the early 90s. The sound quality is always a little poopy, but there's a certain charm to them. It's really great to record it faster and slow them down. Is anyone even selling these micro cassettes anymore?
Recent blogs: Japan tokyo, kyoto, hokkaido

You can pick them up quite a few places.

Does anyone know if digital recorders or micro cassette recorders can use condensor mics??

@ Mr Reel:
I use this mic by Griffin. The italk pro
Apparently it works with your nano but with hitches

Anyways its 16bit, can be stereo or mono.
And its pretty discrete, which I like...

Right I think I'm all set now. I've just scored a sony MZ-R501 for 12 nicker :D off ebay...

Bob's your uncle!

I've used micro-cassette in the past - not bad. But now I use standard cassette recorders (a pair of Sony machines).
I find that the sound isn't as harsh when overloaded on a cassette when compared to a minidisc which has been given a really 'hot' signal.

Do consider getting a model that can allow for a mic to be plugged in - I really don't think the built in ones are great quality - okay for taking dictation - but a lot of deatil of a field recording can be lost from my experience.

i went for a zoom h4... its nice, but probably not the super cheap solution you're looking for.

also, you'll have to excuse my uncle bob. he's a little weird. exchanging 12 knickers for a cassette recorder is actually not that strange by his standards. i've heard worse stories. you'll probably receive the cassette recorder, but don't think too much about what it's been used for.

sry, MD recorder. just don't get too deep into the knicker trading ring. there's some real lowlifes out there.

Do you have it in 24-bit 48Khz WAV or FLAC format?
