--> so i guess some people know, that i used to live in munich for the last two years, working as an editor for a studio/syntheszer-magazine. it a hell lot of work and i never really found time to ease off and was permanently suffering from sleep-deprevation, tons of overtime hours just vanishing into nowhere, just because my boss decided it would be a good idea to save him money.

so. the contract ended two weeks ago and since me and my girlfriend were living about 600 kilometres away from each other (which is also putting lots of stress on a relationship) i decided it would be a good idea, to relocate to her place.

so now i'm here. living in cologne, which is a really nice city. (already found a really decent recordshop, where i will leave loads of money)
thing is, that at the moment i live at my gf's apartment, which is rather small, so we are looking into some new place to live.

that also means, that studiowise my setup got a little bit scaled down.
at the moment it's just my macbook pro, m-audio firewire410 as an audiointerface, a novation nocturn, a faderfox and some ultrasone headphones. i think i'll try to fit a small oxygen8 on the table aswell.

the pics are:
the view outside our bedroom
the living room from one angle
the bedroom(which is also my studioplace/working desk for writing reviews and everything)
the view out of the living room window
and the living room from another angle.

so YAY for new times.

it's realy great to feel how my mental health is connected with my enviroment and seeing how it improves since i left

though it's also sad, as there were some really nice people who are now 600 kilometres away

congrats on relocating!

btw how are you liking the Nocturn? I have a Remote Zero SL, but I find I use only about 1/4 of its potential and its responsiveness seems a bit sluggish and choppy to me. I think I'm much better suited for a smaller interface.

Those pictures make the Cologne look nice. Well, at least the two blocks right outside of your window.
I like it when a city still has trees in it.
Here's to the rest of your life being excellent.

side note - Your english is excellent! I had no idea that you lived in Germany. I guess I could have just noticed it in your profile. Man, I wish I could speak another language.

hoooray for yougurstsinthe

my condolences to your gropefruit

i'm not quite sure about the nocturn yet.
thing is, that you have to remap everything before you really can get started, as the default mapping is really random most of the times. and it has some problem with pluggos, when they are Audio Units, so you always have to save sperate template for them. but i guess this is due to the fact, that pluggos oriinaly are vsts and the au-versions are sorta wrapped. but once you saved it template, it works great.
and i have the impression, that the hovering interface puts quite a strain on my graphics card.

and as an information for all users: automap isn't recorded natively in ableton live. to make use of automation one has to enable the MIDI-outputs of the automap-software. but once this is done it works perfectly.

but i guess for 100 euros it's really a bargain. so i'm quite satisfied at the moment. and it comes across quite handy, as it's the only controller i have for automating fx-parameters besides the faderfox.

wow this was long.
so as an extra bonus i alos gave you guys/gals a little atomap/nocturn review

@scu: thanks. i always though my english sucked quite a bit. but i guess this is more because of my lack of typing skills.

i'm also really sorry for her, seeing my geeky, pale body everyday :p
and for having conversation like:
„i'll come in a second, but i just need to get that jitter-amount in my grainsampler appropriatly set, so i can play with it after dinner“

I was under the impression that this blog was about johnny paycheck.

It was not.

I did not enjoy this blog
congrats
i think you might need a better chair to get any work done? That doesn't look like a long-term sitter.
Place looks nice though.

@j-chot: i'm sorry

@ subset: i really need a new chair, i will look into something more comfortable, though at the moment, i'm glad i have a chair at least

coitus or stfu

hey, this sounds like you are speaking of berlin. nice flat! nice move! getting rid of fulltime work is always a good move. sucks moneywise but in the end not everything is about money... I mis-spent 3,5 years working for some company distributing boring industy machines and kicked it and moved away... before it gets too late ;) - now I work all in all 32 hours a week and can pay my rent and such... of course I still have the feeling of not spending enough time on my music....

Good to hear stuff is on the up for you Nils. Wasnt too nice that every time we spoke that you were stressed and down.

Im up for a visit as well.

CONGS! It's important to feel good about home and at work, you spend so much time there, it's your life really. I'll be in Koln for about 45 minutes or something in a couple of weeks. If it had been a couple of hours, could have said hello and grabbed a coffee!
