--> so i guess some people know, that i used to live in munich for the last two years, working as an editor for a studio/syntheszer-magazine. it a hell lot of work and i never really found time to ease off and was permanently suffering from sleep-deprevation, tons of overtime hours just vanishing into nowhere, just because my boss decided it would be a good idea to save him money.

so. the contract ended two weeks ago and since me and my girlfriend were living about 600 kilometres away from each other (which is also putting lots of stress on a relationship) i decided it would be a good idea, to relocate to her place.

so now i'm here. living in cologne, which is a really nice city. (already found a really decent recordshop, where i will leave loads of money)
thing is, that at the moment i live at my gf's apartment, which is rather small, so we are looking into some new place to live.

that also means, that studiowise my setup got a little bit scaled down.
at the moment it's just my macbook pro, m-audio firewire410 as an audiointerface, a novation nocturn, a faderfox and some ultrasone headphones. i think i'll try to fit a small oxygen8 on the table aswell.

the pics are:
the view outside our bedroom
the living room from one angle
the bedroom(which is also my studioplace/working desk for writing reviews and everything)
the view out of the living room window
and the living room from another angle.

so YAY for new times.

hey, this sounds like you are speaking of berlin. nice flat! nice move! getting rid of fulltime work is always a good move. sucks moneywise but in the end not everything is about money... I mis-spent 3,5 years working for some company distributing boring industy machines and kicked it and moved away... before it gets too late ;) - now I work all in all 32 hours a week and can pay my rent and such... of course I still have the feeling of not spending enough time on my music...."

yeah berlin is super nice. but i opted for cologne, as i wanted to put a end to a 600 kilometre long distance love. and as the missus got some good work here, moving to cologne was probably the best idea

hopefully your girlfriend.

Congrats on leaving the crap times and moving in with your lady. I've been finding lately that less is more with studio equipment, looking forward to hearing what you come up with in your new environment.

good idea.
will ask

you're GF is jebus?

that's what she told me.

though i doubt it sometimes
Hey man I'm glad you're enjoying yourself. I love Germany so much that my wife and I went to Berlin for our honeymoon. I really liked it there but unfortunately it was only 13 days and we didn't the other cities in Germany. I really enjoyed being there though and I have to say you all have it going on. The attitude of the people was refreshing and of course it's nice to live somewhere where you have so many cool things to do and places to see. I live close to Washington, DC but it's not nearly the same because DC is a small city. I don't really like NYC either although Philly is pretty good.

With your writing skills and how fluent you are in (at least) two languages you should be able to find good writing and editing work that pays well and is not abusive towards your time and personal life. Good luck to you and your girl in your new environment.

I'm sorry but i hate the desktop picture on your laptop. It must go.

Thanks for your blog, yghartsyrt. Your story gave me some good ideas about how to move my life to the next level. Thank you!

@pyvnd: berlin is always great for a journey, it's really a special place. nikce to hear you enjoyed it there.

@horizons: what's wrong with it. i LOVE it. it's some generative noodling, that ups my nerd-status threee points
