--> I don't know how many of you have heard of the mighty Hippocamp net label, but i owe it a lot. For one, hippocamp.net introduced me to em411; someone recomended me here from there. I've had a couple of releases on there too and recieved some excellent feedback.

Hippocamp was founded by a guy called BSR who used to frequent these boards a lot too. It's sort of based in Manchester, UK, and has had some noteable figures involved including Jim Noir, Batfinks and DNCN who you might have heard of. It's got well over a hundred net releases under it's belt, all at least 4 track eps, many full length albums. It's very unpretentious and covers a massive range of genres - Techno, electro, house, jungle, glitch, acoustic, idm, etc...

Until recently the message board was busy and the releases were coming thick and fast. There was a monthly label showcase night in Manchester town centre which hosted live sets and DJ sets and always interesting visuals from many of the contributors.

Recently, however, the message board is pretty quiet, the night has stopped, and it seems like lots of people have lost enthusiasm. So I wanted to blog it here to highlight what an amazing community it has been, and can (and will) be again.

So if anyone's looking to have some music released online, or wants to listen to some amazing, fresh tunes, or wants to hook up with like minded people, give it a go! link

I reccomend anyone in manchester envolved with electronic music, or trying to find some sort of scene, to try it out. I'm not trying to detract from this place, em411, but would love to see some fresh blood on the boards and some life breethed back into the mighty hippo!
