lol. the roots of teh apheks beatz!

omfg! this is INCREDIBLE. what a find!

how do i make teh delia derbyshire beetx0rz? she was the opener of the portal between here and the butterzone.

Paul Hartnoll, formerly of the dance group Orbital and a great admirer of Ms Derbyshire's work, said the track was, "quite amazing".

"That could be coming out next week on [left-field dance label] Warp Records," he noted.

he's obviously not heard what warp have been releasing for the last however many years...

crazy... 1969? That's nuts.

Delia darbyshire is f'in amazing

To make the doctor who theme out of syncing a rubber band bassline with synthesized partials from hand tuned oscillators is beyond amazing.

She was the kind of musician who could think in ratios of partials - lost art

ratios is where its at
whats a partial?

Also known as harmonics: link
yeah she really was amazing
one of her favorite instruments is her trusty green metal lampshade
but of course all you geeks already new that

lol at raw tape outtakes of her voice.
ahhhhh

aah

ahhhhhhhhhh

ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

i want to hear all of the tapes!! i hope they release them in some way that you can hear what she did originally instead of just commissioning a bunch of "remixes" of the stuff. there is some really cool stuff near the end of the blue veils and golden sands demo version.

there's an interesting documentary about the radiophonic workshop that features delia called, "alchemists of sound"

"alchemists of sound" is brilliant, you can see it on youtube. some one posted a d/l link for it here ages ago

267 tapes!!! she should have a box set in the style of the bands she ran with.
