--> Hey all,

Looking at the possibility of putting ads on my new bl0rg: link

I'm officially affiliated with Musician's Friend and Guitar Center, although I've not used eother of them (not the best for non-US residents sometimes).

Anyway, what are your experiences? If I were to give preferential treatment to one or the other, which would you recommend I choose?

thx - stv

lol @ midi to 1/4" - that one almost brought tears.

do professionals use MIDI-to-XLR?

GC pros use MADI to XLR.

I never knew Sweetwater to give some of the crazy/stupid deals that I know Musician's Friend for. sure, Sweetwater stocks a couple of those crazy Digidesign gazillion dollar consoles, but at the end of the day, I'll probably buy from Musician's Friend. But I haven't bought anything new in awhile so things might've changed in the 4 years that have passed since I made a new gear purchase.

OK, true Sweetwater doesn't have crazy deals, but...

They stand behind everything they sell you. If you get something and there is anything remoteley wrong with it, even if subtle, you don't have to battle to send it back. About 6 years ago I bought my first Apple Cinema Screen and it had dead pixels. They sent me FOUR before I finally felt happy. (That tells you a little too much about me, but also how patient and accommodating their staff is.)

Also they have a Sweetwater Credit Card with which they offer good payment deals.

sweetwater will match prices just like anyone else. if you email a sales rep a price you saw somewhere else they will usually match it.

that being said.. i usually try and go local if i can and use the web as a last resort. there's good proaudio place here in portland that has great prices. they rent gear as well and if you like the rental a lot and want to buy that model then they'll apply the cost of the rental towards your purchase. they actually let me take home and try out a few things to compare them and pick the one i like.
