--> so when I was in junior high and high school, we all skated dyrdek or petri boards (alien workshop hoodies, flannel and soundgarden t-shirts with crusty long in the front haircuts..you know)

So I found this link I thought "that can't be the same guy"..his bio makes no mention of ever being a skater but the name is not one of those "john smith" type names everyone has. so I found this link ...duane pitre, who I remember skating to dinosaur junior (an alternative rock group from the nineties for those born after 85) is a drone artist now.

weird.

cool !

it reminds me a lot of memories... aaaah. skateboarding was the real life !

and he's damn good at what he does!

i discovered his music a few months ago, great shit. he's a brooklyn resident now but is from new orleans i guess.

Check out A Circle and the Sound that Fills It for free: link and allow it to convince you to buy Organized Pitches Occurring in Time. Drone-tastic!

thanks for the recommendations, hecanjog. I'll snag that when I'm at home (on the fast connection).

Really cool, and really weird to read that interviewing starting with a McLuhan quote since I was just taking some time off from writing my thesis in which his philosophy is a recurring theme.

duane peters hehe ...

yea, he is good, just dl'd those tracks, going to buy some of his work

Duane Peters ?

weird

cool stuff.
i remember him from the alien workshop

and he played in camera obscura.
great stuff, i oved that band
the twee indie Scottish band camera obscura or is there another?

there is also another one.

I enjoyed those very much last night and will again I'm sure. thanks again hecanjog.

damn no way! i too grew up skating (im 31 now) and remember duane pitre. crazy that he makes drone, but i guess some of us em-ers grew up skating and at some point got into music, then experimental music too.

wish i could edit to add this. but plenty of other skaters did music too. i remember all the h-street videos had some weird songs Ron Allen would make. now that is someone who i wonder what he is up to musically nowadays.
