--> So I'm pretty sick of computers and email - now looking for a manual typewriter that doesn't take electricity, so I can go write my manifesto in some little wooden shack in montana. OK just kidding about the last part, but I think it would be cool to own one. Turns out the craigslist pieces of crap are all pieces of crap, and ebay is out cause of the shipping.

These things are going for $300-$500 or more these days if they're in perfect condition! Who knew.

Lemme know if there's one in seattle that's been kept in good shape, has well oiled keys, etc. I plan to sample it and video tape it and put it on youtube for no reason whatsoever.

u can borrow.

try the value villages and second hand stores...they usually have typewriters in various conditions for better prices than that.

Yes, and they invariably have stuck/missing/broken keys. I need one that has sat in a basement for 50 years and never got wet and hasn't seen the light of day since WWII.
