Yes, eat BBQ and try to find yourself in between some Texans, some Memphis folk, and some Kansas City folk and listen to them squabble about which style is better.

eat mexicans

oh yeah try to get arrested because you haven't seen america unless you've been to jail. it's probably the most pure and honest place in the whole country.
exept rehab.

drive under the speed limit and be on your best behavior.

good ole' boy cops love busting out of towners.

this is serial killer behaviour and therefore utter nonsense

watch fear and loathing in las vegas again, there you'll see you how it's done

you'll will be probably renting a car. make sure it has air condition and a decent sound system on board

remember to bring lots of music on lots of different media with you. maybe some audiobooks. war and peace by leo n. tolstoi preferably
the midwest roads strech endlessly and you won't be stuck listening to 4 shitty radio stations all the time, 3 of them broadcasting bible verses from the old testament all day and night

fetch up hitchhikers if possible. some of those people are intelligent, decent, well-exerienced alternative citizens and make up for a good conversation during driving
man, i love this thread. i will make a note of everything in here and bring it with me.

yeah, we are renting a car. so big it is almost obscene. we now have planetickets, we have rented a car, and we have a hotel for the first night in chicago. apart from that ----- nothing!!! no plans, and i love it. i will bring as little as possible, though i think i will bring the laptop for some late night web surfing. we just want to drive. eat. see stuff. talk. relax. drive more.

Don't bring your computer!!!!! NOOOOOOOO!!!!!

First of all, it's something to worry about.

Second of all, waste of f;ing time! When you could take a light night excursion to a diner! If you have time on your hands to surf the web, for shame! ;)

you don't live here, I'm pretty sure you have no idea what you're talking about.

deltasleep speaks the gospel. FLEA MARKETS FOR LIFE!!!!

you can bring your computer as long as you ONLY use it for like, an hour a day for contact and documentation. YOU MUST SWEAR BY YOUR BLOGGING FINGERS.

If he goes to a late night diner, he might get pestered by inquisitive hicks. could be a good thing.

I have been craving such an excursion myself lately. I'd love to drive through Arizona, or some of the more arid parts of the US. When I lived in LA we took a drive to Joshua Tree and I remember lots of odd food along the way. Wonderful huge stores selling dates and dried fruit...

i would go to arches national park in utah, if you crave the beautiful. you could easily spend a whole summer in utah, actually, dodging mormons and seeing the sites.

as far as LA, make sure to see Harris Ranch, a city of 150,000 cows just north of town on the 5. also be sure to check out the hyperion sewage treatment plant in long beach! haha!

could see what these people are doing too:

If you stop and get barbecue (missouri or texas maybe), go for a fried pie (if available). they're terrible for you (macdonalds took them off their menu for god sakes) but I love them.

Does anybody know if there's places for exotic stuff like rattlesnake? I've only had it once but it's worth it just to say you have.

take pictures!!!

@ fredo maybe he's the type like me and will worry if he leaves his computer (I carry my machine everywhere...it's my security blanket) I'm always sure there will be a house fire and it will be destroyed.
