Electronic Music other: 4-track Collaboration
Store Written August 26 2008
Is anyone interested in an informal 4-track collaboration.

my plan:

Get blank 90min tape, fill up one track. ie: 45mins worth of sounds.

send the tape to someone, that person fills up the second track
then 3rd person, then 4th person.
then the tape gets sent back to me so i can mix it down.

the first 4 people who respond are in.
maybe other groups of 4 could do their own.

anyone interested?

first of all i thought it work best as a free noise/drone piece, then i thought it would be more interesting, if i did several bits of tunes, which slowly get more complete once people have added their tracks.

for example

TAPE TRACK 1: drums keyboards barking farting singing banjo drums
TAPE TRACK 2: belching guitar conga clapping drone whistle synth
TAPE TRACK 3: synth chimes bells stomping beats beets beetz
TAPE TRACK 4 etc etc etc etc etc etc etc

all you need to enter is a 4-track that can play tapes at normal speed (like mine)

UPDATE: Otterfan has agreed to take part!
we just need another TWO people.
C'MON!!!!!

OMG i'm totally down!
i have a tascam 414mkII, i dont think it goes down to 'normal' speed...but i can make do.

but, wont we have trouble with bleed through, like if everyones machine is aligned a little different?
well whatever...i want in!
you should all sell your crappy cassette 4 tracks, get a reel to reel and join the 1/4 inch project:

is it too late to get in?
my tascam portastudio is sitting in corner collecting dust. i feel sorry for it!

let me know pleeeasssseee!
i would do this if it was more of a free flowing noise peice.
ive got a 4 track.
with only 4 people involved this should work, remember what happened to my RPM project though
Am i too late to join?
We could have a few tapes going round, no?
I'd be very, very into this.
Shame I destroyed my four-track by pouring a steaming hot cup of tea into it. This sounds like a great idea.
As I told before, 1 month is not enough for me for a 45min project (even if it is just sporadic arrangements, i believe you still have to listen to the whole track a few time to make a good track of your own) , but if there is more people interested then the Monty team, i'd be willing to do a 15min project with other people. If it works well the few times, why not repeating the process 2 more times and then we'll have our glorious 45min.

I meant : If it works well the first time ...
so... reading the posts,

it seems energygiant and LouisGriffin are in!!

Psyingo: a free noise piece would be v-cool. i used to use my 4-track solely for free noise.
Start another tape!
I'M IN TOO!!!!

maybe each person could contribute something towards the album artwork too?
I'd like to join in! I've got a portastudio as well that's been collecting dust since my high school band
sorry Analog...
i think i worded the blog wrong...i only needed another 3 people if i included myself.

the tape im im gonna start working on will include: Me, Otterfan, energygiant and LouisGriffin (in that order)
thats who posted first.

you should team up with another bunch.
if this works, we should do a whole feckin website devoted to it.

i think everyone who works on a tape should include postcards, photos from their area. include it in the artwork.

NICE ONE
damn you. All i got is an MD 4-track. Not starting another project. Haha. Cool idea Xx
