so i was browsing last.fm this morning and was looking at the people listening to my music (yes – sad but true) and i found tracks by an artist called nq with titles that weren't mine. so i googled a bit and it turned out, that there's some other artist called nq releasing chiptunesq noise stuff.
thing is this artist just released his/her first record and i'm doing nq-stuff since 2002. what would you do? i just wrote the label an email, if the could give me the contact-info, so i can contact the artist. that's really annoying and i'm pissed off about myself, that i choose such a dumb artist-name. hence i share the name with that god-damn boring nq arbuckle and lot's of people from somewhere in asia. dunno if it is thailand or the philipines, where nq seems to be a normal name. i wonder if people don't know how to google before coming up with a name.
seems so dumb in the end. and you're right fil, last.fm should really rework their database yeah i've seen this happen a bunch, people with same names. all you can do is change or not.. i had to throw out a few good name ideas because they were taken. there's even a dj implex.
i guess it depends how far you take your names. or maybe how serious you take them.

Shit... recently me and my brother were looking for our band name and everytime we had a good idea, we would find out that the name already exists. And this happened like 20 times, no kidding. So we might as well take the name "The Beatles" since we'll end up with an existing name anyway (Thanks Myspace!!!)... But seriously, unless you have a combination of 2 or more words, it's very difficult to find something original.
there's a german schlager singer which has the same name as me, but i find that pretty funny
apart from that there don't seem to be many musical bodo's around

there is a finnish ultra death metal band called 'noumena,' my old band's name, so I changed it to n9. Now there is a french house artist called n9. irritating.

I wanted to call my solo shit "Yuri Nation", but unbeknownst to me at that point, it appears that's the oldest one in the book.

there's 3-4 different people using "ignatius". i made them friends on myspace.
The reason I added the "of everyday life" onto the end of my artist name was because of a German called "unknown forces"
