I've had guys call me gay all my life. On more than one occasion I was fooling around with their girlfriend behind their back (this was years ago, I'm monogamous now.)

At the same time, I find it annoying when people act like others shouldn't be allowed not to approve of gay people. It's a new kind of puritanism or piety. It's like they're saying "i'm so tolerant since I'm OK with gay people" but at the same time they're not tolerating any opinion that differs from their own in any tangible way.

True tolerance is accepting people even when you're at odds with them.
