i just realized that the peruvian singer Yma Sumac died at november 1st. i was listening to one of her records when i read the blog here about miriam makeba's death so i had to check out wikipedia about yma sumac.
she had an incredible vocal range of about four octaves and made some really great records.

oh. goodness! Sad sad sad!

She was so rad!
geezus.......
i did not know she died! Sumac never got the attention she deserved. Personaly i like her voice better then Callas' voice, who got more airplay.
She gigged around Los Angeles a lot when I lived there (80's and 90's).

I thought her name was actually "Amy Camus" and she was a nice Jewish girl from the San Fernando Valley-- and her alter-ego "Yma Sumac" was a stage name that came to her while driving down the 101.

She sure could do amazing "stunt vocals" though.
