This is pretty strange. Someone releases a track for sale on itunes using loops from FL studio. An almost identical song is released by Deadmau5 called Faxing berlin. The Loop was included in FL studio, and FL says the loops are Royalty Free. Well I guess this isn't the case. Interesting post of the drama at the link.
Need to register for instant access though.

I'd tell deadmau5 to fuck off. Frankly I'd argue that any loop included free with a prog like FL is public domain whether stated or not if there is no copyright information accompanying the software then it's free to use however the fuck I want. That's like buying reason and someone charging you for using the subtractor patches that are included.
I'd kick it back on FL staff myself. Basically if they don't tell you that the stuff they're selling you is copyrighted it constitutes FRAUD!!! Basically FL LIED about their material included w/ their prog.

now that i think about it, i think the included demo songs in fluity all start with a notepad-like message that's automated to tell you what's going on at certain points in the song. i'm pretty sure they include a copyright message. i couldn't tell you because i don't have it installed on any machines handy.

i disagree. public domain is something completely different.
Plus. Normally all those loops have to be used altered – compared to the original. so it has to be different new sounds around them or different processing. I don't know about the track, because i don't want to register on some stupid forum, but if there is some sort of statement – anywhere in the fl studio package – that has details about the copyright, that dude might be screwed. because he needs to clear the samples for the release.
and btw dkarma: aren't you the one complaing about a friend of yours, who is playing material from you at his live gigs. some thing here, i guess. maybe he just thought, you gave him this stuff as a present.

yeah i was...this is completely different.
that guy stole my loop collection and used my already made track as his own.
this guy used standard fl loops that he thought were royalty free.
its like day and night.

wow Deadmau5 is on quite an internet tear lately. he's my hero! and with it all taking place on the velvet acid christ messageboards, it's like the overrated internet psycho musician olympics! seriously who argues this vociferously about trying to copyright a kick drum and a cowbell?
