Electronic Music other: DOGMA Noveau X Live@bassline studio
Store Written November 24 2008
Im part of a small comunity of electro freaks called: Dogma Noveau. As you might guess we use rules for music making.
About once a month we meet at someones home, eat dinner and present our music to each other. Every month there is a new rule, decided by the host of the last Dogma.

I joined DN after this summer. I have made music for many years. Mostly on my computer, but lately more hardware based. The last year or so I have felt a need to hok up with others to get inspired and playing live to some degree.

DN 9 was my first. The rule was to make a tune with, not too distorted vocals. Thats a challange for many of us instrumental electro nerds. It was very fun though and the results turned out surprisingly good.

DN X was a live based dogma. The rule was to perform in a studio in Linköping(Sweden) called Bassline. Backtracks were alowed, but something had to be performed pure live. link (all trax from DN X)

I decided to perform completely without computer. Others only on computer (Ableton Live) or a combo. I used my Elektron Machinedrum UW and Monomacine. I also threw in a few chords with my Alpha Juno-1.

My set was a structured but improvised tree part set called "Novemberdjur"
Part I: Giraff
Part II: Zerbra
Part III: Antilop

You can watch all DN X contributions here:

Im Björn, by the way.

Dogma Noveau seems to be exactly what I need musically rigth now!
We had a very god evening.

that sounds like a really cool way to inspire each other and work within creative boundaries

i really like the sounds in those videos, especially that tone you're working with 2 minutes into video one
Thanks! Yes, DN inspires me a lot. BTW the DN 11 rule is to make a tune out of 13 min sampling from a chocolate factory that one of the guys works at.

2 mins into the vid I turn up volume on a Monomachine track that contains a compressor effect. Two other pad tracks are routed into it. LFO s/h on filter cutoff. Trigs make it sing! Cool machine!

Lots of live resampling into the MD UW.
cool vids man. really fun concept!
