Electronic Music other: when synths break

my beloved nord g2 is broken.
A week ago my nord g2 made a funny humming noise, then went dark. I took a peek in the back and the fuse had blown, but before I was able to replace it, I lost it. I went to radio shack and bought one I thought would work. After I installed the new one and flipped the synth on, all the lights including the clipping light on the mic input were lit (freaked me out) and it had that horrible humming sound coming through my monitors.
So OK must have been the wrong fuse. I wanted to see if the fuse from my nord lead 2x would work. I installed that one and it made the funny humming noise and the lights on the mic input lit up in a bad way again and it went dark. That fuse blew too.
So now I have two nords with blown fuses. I asked Clavia for help, but just got a lame response from some guy reading off the back of the unit. I emailed him two more times with no response. I even called the dude, leaving him a pretty nice message with my concerns and feelings of displacement. He never called back.
Finally another dude at clavia emailed me back informing me that my synth needs help. "The G2 needs to be serviced, something has broken on either the main board or the power supply board." ouch.
I feel violated, a little scared and hungry. I am taking it into a shop tomorrow, wish my synth a quick and speedy recovery.

Sorry to hear it. I was reading about your fuse issues at the electro-music G2 forum yesterday. My G2 is still functioning normally, but hearing stories like yours and astroids gives me the fear.

Shit, hate to hear that.
If you want to feel better, here's my synth-break story.
Bought a SH-101 off of ebay (from japan). When I got it two keys weren't triggering too well. So I opened it up, trying to see what was wrong. Got nothing. Opened it up again a couple of weeks later and must've touched something I shouldn't have touched. When I put it back together again nothing happened. Not even the status LED lit up.
So I let it gather dust for a year or more and recently sold it for less than half of what I gave for it. And it felt good.

crappy man.
even if it was the "wrong fuse", the fuse itself wouldn't cause the f-up. the wrong fuse could cause the internals to get even more f'ed-up though if the value was too high.

My old ARP Omni-2 broke, and I never got a chacne to get it fixed. Had to leaveit behind when I moved from Cali. *sniff* I miss that little bugger.

Yeah I have some synth-break history as well if it makes you feel better.
Total Losses:
- Ensoniq ESQ-1 (fried motherboard)
- Casio CZ-101 (dunno, just died)
Sickos:
- TR-606 that won't remember patterns after powering off (not really a bad thing most of the time)
- Juno-106 with dead voice chip and bad waveform chip
- Jupiter-6 with dying VCA sustain slider and dead LFO-2 button.

that is what really freaks me out. I put in an 2 amp fuse and I should have put in a .3 amp fuse. and to make matters worse, it put that fuse back in the nord lead 2x to see what would happen. the synth is fine, but it could have killed it. god help me.
