so the other day a hawk tackled a pigeon mid-air and landed in my backyard. i missed the actual hunt but go the aftermath. a midsized hawk ripping apart then toying w/it's prey in my backyard. that pigeon was toast. got riped to shreads. feathers everywhere, head was all mangleg and its breast was ripped open like gutted. the hawk just sat there on top of it, claws dug in pecking it to pieces and ripping the flesh right out of it. never seen that so close. never expected it in my yard.
i buried the carcas near wher ei buried the dead baby crow. i have my own bird cemetery now.
so far, racoons, crows, baby crows, cats killing baby crows, chipmunks galore, and now the hawk.
it wasn't a huge hawk but was really a cool looking bird. check the pics.

what a coincidence! i saw a hawk take out a pigeon about two hours ago at burnside and grand. i also have video that i took last year of a red-tailed hawk eating a pigeon on my work's fire escape. on top of all that, i'm a little hungover. it's a miracle!

one time i was driving around and I saw a hawk ripping up a squirrel like 30 feet away from me. it was on the (wide, stone) railing of a bridge, i was in a parked car. pretty cool shit.

some friends and I went camping in florida some years back...I remember seeing two sets of those eyes so I started putting potato chips/crisps down for them...suddenly it looked like that scene from "Return of the Jedi" when the ewoks come out...fat ones, skinny ones, they were everywhere. It was so cool looking.
