Alright, here it is...exclusivly for all you drone-o-matic addicts:
PAULSTRETCH-1.000-M1 (mac-only)
Get it right here: [link updated - the zip wasn't workin..sorry]
link
CHANGES:
- improved performance (uses libfftw - "fastest fourier transform in the west")
- switched to portaudio_v18 (v19 caused static glitches on some machines)
- saves to .wav, for real
- window resizable (so you can stack thousands of 'em - check paulstretch_multiple)
- select audio device (use soundflower for recording realtime perfomance)
- timeline markers (mark your favorite spots)
- disable snap to fft windows, when freezin'
- added a volume slider
- changed gui to my favorite color ;)
- keyboard shortcuts:
Z - PLAY
X - FREEZE
Y - STOP
CMD-O - OPEN FILE
- some other smaller things, i don't remember right now
BUGS:
-transition between freeze and play behaves strange
- time slider moves kind of sloppy
- big fft window on small audiofiles causes CPU overload
NOTE:
I'm neither the original author of this sweet app nor am i a professional coder.
I just did an osx port with some minor modding.
Don't ask for a Windoze backport (i'll never touch that shit again).
Don't just send some shit recording thru this and call it music - that's cheating
(just kidding ;).

argh!
this is probably a total coincidence:
i stretched a sound in paulstretch, and then tried to listen to the .ogg file...
AND SUDDENLY MY POWERBOOK CRASHED AND WOULD NEVER AGAIN START UP!
yep, right, my powerbook died after playing with paulstretch.
i even had to cancel a tour, because this happened one night before the first gig.
i hate paulstretch!

Can someone please explain *in explicit detail* how to get this to save to .wav? I tried following dude's directions
"saving should default to .wav, but you can switch between wav/ogg in the "render selection" dialog using the flipmenu in the upperleft corner."
but .wav does not seem to be the default, and even though (I think) I switched to .wav, it still renders to .ogg! I am feeling very stupid and frustrated right now, so any help would be very much appreciated.

that's a bug, it doesn't render to wav, just ogg
even worse, the render never sounds the same than the preview either
so i just use audio hijack pro to grab it's (lovely) output

Ah! Thank you. I'm glad it's not just me. I'll take a page from your book and just record the realtime output, then.
