Thank you lowli, I'm totally inspired by Yuan Sha. That was amazing... I could hardly move while that piece played.
The prepared piano stuff turned out to be the best part of the Stormdrum plugin.

Ming Shan means something like Snow Mountain or something. The original composer of it is a professor at the University in Beijing I believe.
The player uses smoothed tortoise shell picks taped on the fingers. I am still getting used to it myself. The amazing stuff is hard to find, but the Yuan Sha performance is really respresentative of the newer school playing Guzheng. Lots of people bowing, using objects and whatever else to play, just like prepared piano. I really have no idea if this was taking from John Cage's era.

Brilliant! I've been trying to find a quality gu zheng soloist recording for years now. Yuan Sha's album is it! If only I could find it for sale somewhere other than a really sketchy looking site.
