It's been a while since I've posted here, but I thought I would share my latest video piece with you all. Let me know what you think! Here's the summary:
On the 28th of January 2009, Dundee United and Glasgow Celtic battled to a 0-0 tie in the semi-final of the CIS Scottish League Cup. The game thus went to penalty kicks.
Celtic won, but not before every player on both teams (including the goalies) took shots in what must have been one of the most epic penalty shootouts in Scottish (if not world) football history.
Watching the coverage I was struck by how the camera angles were always very similar for each penalty. I edited the footage and layered each of these similar camera angles on top of one another to create a composite version of the shootout, compressing the 24 shots into one. The angles were all different lengths, so sometimes you only see one or two layers, and occasionally you see many. I did a similar process with the sound, although I wasn't quite as rigid, as you will hear.

that happened in Hampden Stadium, which is across the road from my flat.
I was watching The Wire on dvd that night, i wondered why the football went on so long. ill watch yer vid when i get home from work. PENALTY!!!!!

Football is RIPE for visualisation. Lovelystuff! i think there's mileage in synchronising multiple vids around an arbitrary event that you can find in each of them (eg,kickoff. starter gun firing, dropping of lottery balls), i think it could be interesting even without further editing.

whenever there is football on at Hampden, i like to walk up to the shops and listen to the noise of the crowd. it sounds like two giants taunting each other, very eerie. woah.. crazy.. that was neat to watch.. very cool idea
