Hi there, emers

Well, I had hoped I'd have a happy thing to mention today, but... well not so! I got myself panned by the Brits this morning!

In the meantime, my album is going to be formally released on the 16th of this month. Well, at least in Europe and the UK. No US interest yet! I'm really proud of the album, and actually have been getting some raves across the pond in France, as well as really good review by Q and Uncut. So go figure.

Finally, wanted to mention that tomorrow night I will be performing with hecanjog at Stain. I go on at 9, hecanjog goes on at 10. The first part of my set will be solo and then hecanjog joins up for some oddball adventuresome improvisation. So please join us if you can!

PLUSSSSS, just got this really great review from France! 10 out of 10! It's long, and I don't speak French, so if anyone who does can take a look and let me know the gist I'd be really appreciative.

Those brits sure know how to deflate an ego.
But congrats on the release!
hahah. yeah. Well, I think both the pan and the rave are equally offputting. One distracts you from the truth, which is basically the experience of the music, the other just depresses you. So I'm hoping to take all with a massive grain of salt.

But easy listening??? Really? haha.
yay!
honestly, I think this is a very well written dis, with some genuine wit and intellectual focus. Take it for what it is: a self-aware distaste for what you do. Nothing wrong with that.
I suppose any publicity is good publicity.

sorry, but that did make me chuckle. congrats on the positive reviews tho. tbh, i don't think this one was TOO bad.
you got that right, KidQuaalude! hahah
oh man.....! pfffft. all the "this meets that mixed with X and a smattering of Y" bollocks....always makes me ill that.....*pukes*
eh, a bit snarky, okay a lot snarky, but not too bad overall really. being compared to Sigur Ros, Cocteau Twins and early R.E.M. isn't a bad thing i don't think.
fredo,

i dont see why they dont like your easy listening aphex twin music.

;)

what a silly review.
wait what's the matter? what's pinned? and you were born where?
laguardia said: "...for which, sickos that we are, we have an embarrassing taste."
embarrassing to be embarrassed of fine taste i think and with cute face on top: voila!
silly indeed, and tru it's good to be compared, but equally tru that all the comparing is shitty.
meh.. critics are wankers. no such thing as bad press. at least it's a longish review with a good press photo. the guardian can go stick it!

congrats on the release Fredo.
I didn't think that was much of a pan. If I read that review and knew nothing about your music, I'd be inclined to give it a listen. It's defintiely a snarky review, but not really overly negative. The British music press tends to either fawn uncontrollably, or pan mercilessly. You didn't really get either, which means they probably don't know what to really think about you. Doesn't surprise me, actually.

Which celebrity was it who said that you should only judge your press by volume, and not content?
