Electronic Music other: burgers burgers everywhere
Store Written May 24 2009 , Tags: pesce, vegan, burgers, red meat, pamela
So i'm on my way to becoming a vegan, thanks in part to childhood recollections of meat farming documentaries, mad cow disease, and that pamela anderson battery farming vid of farmers stomping on chickens for kfc.

i'm starting off doing the pescetarian thing first, and what's really interesting is that things sound different. Like how being hungry affects the way you perceive sounds.

The other bit that's really weird is how everything kind of reminds you of meat. Just a slight turn of the head and it's dean winchester and a plate of mini philly cheesesteak burgers, somewhere else oyster sauce duck and roasted pork ( the other white meat ), carl's jr juicy heart attack inducing 1 meter tall ads, a nicely charred medium rare steak with chips on the side, half cut tomato, coleslaw cooked by a grumpy man with large black spectacles.

yummers!

On the plus side, there's a feeling of lightness and enhanced concentration. Things sound slightly different as well. Can't decide if it's in a good way or bad.

damn a 2 piece chicken meal image from popeye's just popped into my head.... Make that 3.

affogato affogato affogato ..... mebbe some coffee would be nice.

happy memorial day.
sundays the bus goes by a family-owned supermarket where they cook up tritip sandwiches in the parking lot. brutal.
Fuk dat ish.. I look forward to eating a nice bloody steak. And some crispy fried chicken. Oh, and some juicy pork chops.
If their are any U.S. vets here.. Thanks guys! HAPPY MEMORIAL DAY!!

GOD BLESS AMERICA!!!
but, no disrespect to the vegans here.
Im not gonna worry about madcow, avian flu, swine flu...etc. I mean you can get a bacteria on...http://www.livescience.com/mysteries/080619-llm-washing-fruits.html

whoops... my bad
cheers @ dean winchester reference
good for you... i love meat, but make a very good effort to eat vegan... for environmental reasons.

i had a ham sandwich for lunch today though...
and i love cheese...
i'm an awful human being...
I'm really against how big business just externalises the social/environmental cost to everybody else.

i love cheeses too! Damn those blue stiltons and the roquefort, and the idiot italian govt that cut the cheese subsidy on parmegiano reggiano but not mozzarella .... the other day tony romas had a one dine's free deal. i walked by and had a sardine puff elsewhere instead.
What would be torture for me is seeing all that fast food in high definition on my 52 inch television. It's not meat so much that is enticing to me, but meat fats. And that's the stuff that's just slow poison, I'm well aware. Still addicted to it thus far. I'm wondering if a weight-loss program would be a better incentive for me to go vegan, if only temporarily to try it out.

edit: another thing I'd miss is a good Barbecue, what with the burgers and dogs and beer and all.
Recent blogs: Re-amping Mic, How do you do it?
respect to anyone who can pull that off. i've tried, can't do it. i would like to for environmental reasons, but i love meat too much. i try to limit it to maybe 3-4 meals a week. and make it a really good cut, not just crappy sandwich meat or something. had a grass-fed organic beef pot roast last week. yum.

some things that help are seeing how much weight you lose and money you save when cutting down on meat consumption. pretty inspiring.

key is to replace it with more healthy veggies, fruit, legumes, grains.

i know some people who go on about how bad meat is for you , say they are "vegetarians", and pretty much only eat french fries and processed soy products. that's not too healthy either. if people say they are vegetarians they need to actually eat vegetables. simply not eating meat shouldn't qualify you to be a vegetarian if you hardly eat any vegetables. am i right or am i right? right!
bacon. i can smell it in my dreams.
offset all the meat that you eat by puking vegetables.

grilled veggies are awesome too, though.
but then again I was chewing on grilled beef heart, jerk chicken, spicy weiners, and thin sliced pork 2 days ago. yum. yeah ok I love barbecues.
Good luck!

I'm thinking if it's really affecting the way you hear, maybe you are not quite filling in the nutritional gaps? I've been veg for about 15 yrs, so I can't say the memory is fresh, but I dont' remember anything like that, though I'm sure there were some physiological bumps in the road.
I was just talking to a friend the other day about how I cant actually remember what meat tastes like, and sometimes I'll be eating a veggie burger or some other fake meat-esque product and wonder if it's even close (most of my omni friends say not really), or else I'll worry that they accidentally put a real burger in at the restaurant or something.
Now, I never was big on meat in the first place, but I can tell you that after a while for me there was no appeal whatsoever to the smell or look of frying bacon, a greasy dripping burger or anything else. The only thing I missed for a long time was salty ham with pineapple.
